I remember when you guys would get 7000-8000 for a Saturday conference game. As a Little Rock fan, I was pretty jealous. Still, in those days, we would get around 3-4K for a Saturday conference game. I would be pissed about that number, but would be absolutely thrilled now.
Except for the fact that we won the league, this year, our attendance is not as awful, as I thought, compared to the rest of league. Only 8 teams averaged over 2K, and USA got there mostly due to a 10K+ crowd against Auburn. I believe Little Rock has the smallest student body, and certainly, the smallest number of oncampus students- so that hurts attendance numbers. We probably are near the top in season tickets sold, although that has clearly gone down as are fanbase is getting older and older. Unless the coronavirus "disappears" as Trump claimed, I'm afraid of what are attendance numbers will be, this year, with the bulk of our reliable fans over 65.
I'm afraid times have changed and, based on the above mentioned numbers, it certainly is not just in Arkansas. Seems like millennials are much more likely to stay home and play video games, watch movies, or watch multiple games on their big screens then attend mid-major sports events. I took my 2 kids, to just about every game, from the time they were born until their late high school years when they began having their "own" social lives (although they often still came to the games). Just don't see young families at our games anymore. Not sure if that is the same at other places or not.
