At Clemson 2nd game?
At Cuse
And Opening vs NCSt
If they don't gel right away, get beat up at Clemson...they could limp to 2-3 out the gate.

Especially if practice schedules are impacted by COVID. Teams with a lot of new starters could be slow out of the gate. That's where you need those early season cupcakes to work out the kinks.

Did UL have a say about the opening game or was it forced on them?

Certainly not opening with OOC cupcakes, but ask 90% of UofL fans (myself included) and they'll tell you they'll be disappointed by anything worse than a 4-1 start through the Syracuse game.

Better have a talk with most of the national media then. They had the AAC ranked above the ACC all over the place. Granted, the ACC has Clemson. After that the AAC was as good or better.

Nah, the AAC wasn't impressive out of their league and the ACC beat up on themselves. But congrats on the moral victory.

Props to the AAC for a great year last year. The league performed like a P5 while the ACC performed like a G5. But I wouldnt count on the worst season that the ACC has had in many, many years to repeat itself next season. I also wouldnt count on the AAC to have another "greatest season in its history by far" next season. The AAC had 5 teams that had double digit win seasons last year. You really think all of this is going to repeat itself next season?
Not many reasonable folks would. Clemson will be Clemson. NC State and SU both fell off a cliff. Cant speak for State but SU will be better next season with an Oline returning that finally gelled the last 3 games of the season and only allowing 5 sacks total after averaging 5 sacks a game earlier in the season. Louisville and Gtech broke in new coaches who did better than expected and will improve withgood recruiting. VTech and UNC and FSU should all be better with Virginia continuing to be solid. Pitt should be solid.
Meanwhile, the problem that is perpetual with the AAC, is that when you guys get great coaches they get poached by the P5. And while what Cinci has been able to do after getting one coach after another poached, has been very impressive to keep putting out double digit winning seasons. But I cant see that continuing to be the case even though it has been at this point. In short, I say the AAC is going to come back down to earth next season and the ACC will improve alot.

Long term you are probably right, but actually I think the AAC is poised to be better this upcoming season than it was last year.
First off, UConn is gone-- that is major addition by subtraction. I feel bad for that program because it was solid during the Big East days, but it is absolutely a bottom 5 program in all of the FBS right now. Just taking UConn out will boost up RPIs, Massey Index, whatever system you loose to look at the metrics of conference strength.
Second, the top programs return with most of their rosters intact (UC, UCF and Memphis). Houston had a lot of guys sit out last year and played a lot of underclassmen, they will be dangerous again. Navy and Temple will continue to be solid. SMU will be explosive on offense, will be relying on a lot of new guys on defense though. ECU and Tulsa, two of the teams near the bottom with UConn, were very young last year and look to be improved. It will be interesting to see if Jeff Scott can turn USF around. They have a lot of talent, the program got very stale under Charlie Strong and I question if they didn't quit on him last year.
The other thing I would add is the AAC has a lot talent in the league. Several of the schools recruit pretty well, and many routinely bring in touted transfers from elite schools (Houston, SMU, Memphis and Tulsa bring in a lot of guys from the B12 or Texas A&M). If you look at the past couple drafts the AAC has had their share of guys drafted.

UNC at UCF to begin the season will be a "put up or shut up" game - IF it gets played.
If UNC wins, trust me... UNC fans will NOT shut up!

I don’t think they’re meant to meet on the field, the universe seems to be against it.

Well, based on our last two bowl games we'd be favored in at least two games on this killer schedule.

That’s not how it works. Those players don’t play there anymore.
Also, why was my original reply deleted?
