RE: NCAA Tournament Cancelled
All this angst over a Dance, and firing a coach because he couldn't make the Dance ... and the Dance gets cancelled!!!!!!!!!
What a joke!
William and Mary was truly on a Fool's Errand over the past year.
The ultimate verdict by the basketball gods on this issue, and the ultimate comeback rejoinder for all of us Shaver supporters.
Fool's Gold!
I can now move on with a gleam in the eye.
Vindicated!

RE: NCAA Tournament Cancelled
This may sound like a silly concern, but what about all the schools that would have been at-large teams. Do the coaches get the bonuses they would have gotten?
Seems to the m the committee should still say who would have been in the tournament.
A bunch of schools that always get big $$$ from tournament appearances will suffer a little.
Penn State looked like they finally got over the hump with Pat Chambers and would have made the tournament, but slumped badly late in the season. I wonder if they would have made it?

RE: NCAA Tournament Cancelled
I'm surprised that the NCAA turned off this money machine. Hopefully this will act as a brake to bring things back into the reasonable range. I'm sorry, but I can't muster much sympathy for the Duke's of world or if the NCAA suffers.

Wonder which game(s) this was.
This seems like some really important info that they are leaving out, but the teams that participated should already know.
But the symptom report came 72 hours after, which eliminates the championship game as the game that he ref’d. Had to be earlier.

No tournament game played isn't vindication. In my opinion, acting like making the NCAAT is a nonissue is confounding.
Making the NCAAT would've been a major accomplishment as it certainly would've helped with recruiting, brand recognition, media coverage, fans, donations, etc.

Another update: The ref in question ref’d the first day of the tourney. Who did WM play? A team who played on the first day of the tourney.

Objecting to a decision predominantly made to attend a corrupt event, and pointing out the out-sized nature of that corrupt event in the decision-making process, and in the end, seeing that corrupt event cancelled, yes, that is vindication.
It's not about making the corrupt event. It's not about the corrupt event being a nonissue.
It was about selling our soul to make the corrupt event, and then, after selling our soul, the corrupt event was cancelled. So, we sold our soul ... for nothing. We gained nothing, and actually lost some things.
What benefit did we gain by selling our soul to attend a corrupt event that was cancelled? Do we get our soul back, or does it remain black? Do we go to confession?
And, yes, I have moved on, but I wanted to correct you.

I was at that game, in the upper seats... thinking I shouldn’t be overly worried.

Something we’re not sure about. It wasn’t really covered in WM’s or the CAA’s statement.

I'm not sure we can know that. Are the basketballs wiped off between games? A ball from Saturday that had a drop of sweat or slobber from the official could have been handled by numerous players, officials, and sideline personnel over the course of several days.
With all NCAA events being cancelled, this board will go into the summer doldrums even earlier than usual. With no tournaments, I might even be forced to work on my taxes or do spring cleaning or something....

"Correcting" my post is a subjective term, I guess. That's your opinion...nothing wrong with that. If our goal isn't to win our conference and participate in the NCAAT, in MY opinion, we might as well shut the door.
In my view, all of our programs should set winning a conference title as goal #1 and take steps toward winning national titles from there. Wofford and Murray State are small(er) schools that do well in football and basketball.
I don't think wanting to dance is the enemy. How we've gone about accomplishing that lately is where I've soured.
