He was doing so at Cincy until he missed that front end of the one and one, which was huge

Every game a different player excels and becomes a savior to fans, but that is not the way it works on the court

I guess some kids may think of transferring after this season as they do after every season, but while after the DJ injury and others, let alone NOT playing with Wiseman after all, the next year comments are not ridiculous, so hopefully that idea does not motivate players to leave

Next year, Lester, Boogie, DJ, Dandridge, Lomax, Tyler and Lance would morph from a talented but young mistake prone team that has dropped a few games late they should have won, to an experienced talented team where that won’t happen as often. Endure the bad breaks now and be patient

Hell, get a win today, and team can set itself up for a get on the good side of the bubble with a home win over Houston next Saturday. I hate that DJ got hurt.

Honestly when Alo is in the game he has to start the ball offensively or he kills the offense for everyone else.

When he plays off the ball his man is the designated helper and it really simplifies the other teams defense.

Teams are learning our weaknesses and what they are doing is pushing us to our weaknesses. One thing most teams are doing is instructing their players not to foul...They understand we struggle to finish in traffic and it seems many times our goal is to get to the FT line and not actually score.

That is what Cinci did...They said we don't believe that Alo can win this game one on one...So they stayed at home everywhere else and challenged Alo to beat them.

I 100% agree with your assessment.

And we win the game if Alo makes the front end free throw or the foul against him gets caked

He is not the best but he does well

Fans are so quick to expect these kids to look like Hardaway or the like

He made two game winning plays down the stretch. Criticize him for missing the free throw, deserved, or criticize him for drawing a later foul but not getting the call

When James quit . Then...As far as no one is leaving. You don’t know as well as anyone else If they’re coming back.

So you are saying that a reason for them leaving is because James isn't going to be here next year.

Think about that for a second and get back to me

No but one of them is from New York. His buddy Precious is going to the NBA. He’s competing with Tyler and Alo, Baugh. The other committed to freaking Duke finally gets his groove back and Penny puts the ball in Alos hands down the stretch. Boogie and Lester need to be the two guards. They’re better then both ALo and Tyler. Y’all act like Memphis is end all be all. They’re not from here. They came here probably for one reason. They may come back but if they leave no way I’ll be surprised. Both could play at schools much better then Memphis

The point is the completely slayed logic in what your reasoning is. Basically, you are saying they are likely transferring because Wiseman left and Precious is NBA bound. They knew when they signed that neither Wiseman nor Precious would be here next year. So, that makes no sense. I have seen nothing that leads me to believe they would transfer. They both are getting a ton of minutes. Penny stuck with Boogie despite him being the 5th best guard on the roster for most of the season. Boogie would not have seen anytime at Duke if he had started the season at Duke like he did here. I am glad Penny stuck with him as you could see his potential but Coach K would not have done that. I just do not see the reasoning for the speculation.

Thank you kind sir.

04-cheers

Same thing people who cover the team every day are saying. It’s fine. I think I’d trust GP, Calkins, Gianatto, Pete Thamel etc over a message board.

What's interesting is, if you read this board, the remedy is to play (PLAYER who had good game) over (PAYER who had bad game).

All four of the guards mentioned are getting minutes and contributing. They all have roles going forward.

If we have transfers (we will), it will likely be fit and/or wanting to go home. Not minutes.

My opinion, yours may be different.

RE: Quinones and Boogie
I want to see Boogie and Lester with plenty of P.T. but,
They must Bust the Trey Ball, Boogie appears to be the better Trey shooter, but I dont know
Harris had 4 Treys against uconn and I'm a believer u rotate for X amount of minutes and it's the coaches
Job to select the Dude with the hott hand, that Dude must get ample minutes.
Myself at one point in time could bust the Trey consistently and u know when the ball leaves your hand if it's going in. The only bad Trey shot is the one u pass up when you're in the groove. Now I have taken many a good Trey shot
In the zone and know when the ball left my hand it was off. The pure Trey shooters know what I speak of,
Those that don't were not confident Trey shooters.
I watched the Dude at old mrs a few yrs ago, he would jack up Trey shots all game, he missed his fare share
But, I never saw him jack a bad Trey shot, ie he always had the opening

Penny is going hard after a big PG and a big 2 (as far as guards), if he gets either that will go a lot towards who transfers.

There could be some other transfers - we still have games to go. Boogie has turned things around - hopefully now he is feeling at home, he was not early in the season.

It's obvious but Boogie has played well & needs to be on the floor running the show at the end.

Exactly. Early in the season, many here were saying "gotta bench Boogie and start A-lo". Now, many of the same people are saying "gotta bench A-lo and have Boogie in at the end".

It's really comical.

Why? Boogie was terrible for a while. Of course, Alo should have been starting and playing more. Now that Boogie has found his groove he is clearly much more talented and much bigger so of course he should be playing more. Nobody is saying Alo should not play at all but he should be 15-20 minutes a game and not nearly as many minutes as Boogie or Lester.

You play your best players and with young teams that can vary throughout the season based on confidence, focus and so on. That is called roster and player management...

Boogie was on the bench due to foul trouble.
Lester could not hit the side of the barn last night.
Baugh had 8 points and 7 rebounds but only had 1 assist to go with this 2 turnover.
Lomax also had 8 points but also had 4 assist and no turnovers.

That’s one side of the ball, which is half the game...

Because you all act like you're coaches, yet not a one of you are ever at practice and know what's really going on.
Of course, it's a free country. So you're all free to over-react after every game and say dumb things.
But then, I'm also free to say you're comical.

First, this is a message board that literally exists for fans to discuss these kinds of topics...

Yes, why is it comical that people thought early in the season that Alo should have been playing more than Boogie but now with the emergence of Boogie people believe he should be getting more minutes?

You do not believe that the better player should be getting more minutes? You believe that the coaches should set the rotations and minutes at the beginning of the season and then not adjust, just leave it fixed? I am just really confused on what is comical about adjusting player's minutes throughout the season based on performance?

First, yeah it's a message board. It "literally" exists for many reasons - not just monday morning quarterbacking - although that is certainly how a lot of you use it.

I do think you are smarter than you are letting on though. No where did I say coaches shouldn't adjust minutes, and you know that. No where did I say the better players should get fewer minutes, and you know that. No where did I say it was comical to adjust someone's minutes, and you know that.

Obviously, Penny has changed minutes, lineups, and shortened the rotation.

What I find comical is that you think you have answers that Penny cannot see. Based upon watching a team (usually on tv, because you don't even go to the games) for 4 hours a week. Not acknowledging that there are practices going on in which you have no clue about what is taking place. Instead you watch a game, then draw huge conclusions from that game alone. Hindsight knee-jerkery at its worst.

THAT is what I find comical.

EDIT: When I say "you", I'm not specifically addressing Senor. I'm directing that at all you MMQB's - you know who you are!
