memphis is fitting for nit bid....uconn slowly securing its nit bid....smu at minimum at nit team...tulsa in the nit field aswell atm

though im sure we'd like more ncaa, 7 post season bids honestly wouldnt be a bad year (potentially 9 if ucf/temple want to do the cbi)

especially when you consider how young our league is..everyone projected in a post season is projected to be better next season (except maybe cincy, and they got a nice recruiting class thats not even finished yet)

Played with fire, got burned. I’m in the camp that Memphis was never a title contender no matter who you want to stick on Penny’s roster. Penny gets a little leeway as far as missing the tournament but I think we’re going to see Penny’s ceiling in the next year or two and it’s definitely not going to be a national championship.

I’ll admit Penny is a better coach than I thought he’d be but he’s also a worse coach than Memphis fans thought he’d be.

UC isn’t great this year. We’re a frickin bubble team in year 1 though, which is better than Memphis can say.

I’ll take a road loss to Memphis if it means I’m in first place in the league.

Truly think of you give Kelvin Sampson, mick Cronin, & Greg Marshall Memphis’s current roster, they win this league without question.

Memphis has underwhelmed. Is that not true ?
And it’s gonna be hard to sell future recruits on coming to Memphis so you can play in the bright lights of the NIT

you have to put how sloppy memphis is on the coach..crazy amounts of turnover in 1 game you an maybe out on a player..crazy amounts all season, is 100% on the coach..there is no way to avoid putting soe of the failures of this season on penny himself

with that said..if we are all honest without self memphis isnt as talented as its recruiting rankings indicated and has lost a lot of players (wiseman, jeffries)...boogie is good but he isnt remotely close to a top 30 talent..outside of precious theres nothing i see on memphis talent wise that i dont see in other aac teams....yet they are 17-8, 5 of he 8 losses by a single possession and putting on scary defensive numbers..a lot of that is coaching

As an outsider watching Memphis games I see a lot of talent but I see a sloppy confusing mess of a system when they have the ball.

This may sound like I’m flaming but I’m being serious. It looks like they are playing in a local AAU weekend tournament most games I see them. Doesn’t appear to be well coached at all.

I’m sure fans are happy with the media and the recruiting but as an opposing fan they don’t seem better than when Tubby was here. Without looking I’m pretty sure the final finishes for them in the conference should back that up.

Still his team and his accountability. Part of being a college coach is realizing the ups and downs that come with it.

It's fair to challenge that he has had his share of hurdles (as do most coaches at some point). It's also fair to challenge that he mouthed off before he accomplished anything. Both can be true.

Record wise you are right about UConn on the road. But they were tied at Houston with a minute to go, down 2 at Nova with a minute to go, same at Memphis and SMU. Just haven't finished.
