It is our time now.

We were stuck in a less than desirable bowl game vs an opponent that frankly was indifferent to being there( according to sources didn't want to come back out after rain/lightning delay).

Anything short of a beat down was unacceptable.

Tough shyte. They are supposed to be a "big boy" school. Nobody gave UC any sympathy when we played Florida in the Sugar Bowl (arguably one of the best college teams of the past 15 years), nobody gave us any sympathy when Zach Collaros played Liberty with a broken leg, nobody gave us any sympathy when we played Duke with a skeleton coaching staff and nobody gave us any sympathy when Tubs was taking the teams on bowl-cations.

If BC did not want to be there that is on them, not us. If you are going to be assigned to a bowl (and you don't like the location or opponent) you darn welled better show that you are better than what you got.

Ok...am I in an alternate dimension? I dont recall this at all 03-lmfao

typ-o... it should read "played in the Liberty Bowl". Collaros went down against WVU and he was still not completely healed for that game against Vandy.

i think memphis falling in the cotton on the american sword could be a boon for the bearcats. they (memphis) performed so very well that their coach got poached while we performed admirably throughout the season and look forward to see what fick can potentially do with a potentially elite qb. maybe prater's two or three years away but ridder started as a freshman

Ridder started as a redshirt freshman though; not a true freshman. Prater also is not graduating early and participating in spring ball. Tough to earn the job as a true freshman when you don't get in until camp.

Hell of a year, Bearcats! Loved watching the defense play this year and this is a really good looking program right now.

Off topic...
I have family that works in the basketball program at St. John's Jesuit in Toledo. Watched a game last Friday vs. Toledo Whitmer and saw your future QB commit (Lichtenberg) play some hoops. Kid has heart and if he plays as hard in football as he does basketball, you'll have a solid player.

UC NEEDED Des to step up last season and he did so very effectively. Next season Des and Bryant are more than capable so unless Prater is just beyond incredible in camp that's a gamble the coaching staff may not be willing to take coming off 22 wins in 2 seasons.

We all think we know that Des has hit his ceiling but maybe he hasn't. I'm not saying he is going to come back as the second-coming of Aaron Rodgers but maybe he improves quite a bit and becomes more than just a game manager and running QB.

On an OT note, I believe Des is getting married to his HS sweetheart this offseason. Never know how that could change his life and career!

and recruited by zac taylor no less. kinda forget that he redshirted. i kinda like all these players fickell is getting us and it would suck if he took those abilities elsewheres, but is the jury still out on whether he even gets the best of the players he convinces to come here? in other words, is he a good coach? i hear some of you complain of his game management, perhaps big 10 mentality. yeah?

Even if (and I stress the "IF") it's true that BC didn't want to come back and play after the lightning delay, I GUARANTEE that was not the sentiment from the players and coaches. That was from the AD level only.

Yes. Nobody has reported anything about the BC players and coaches other than they were very fired up to play after the delay. I'm not sure why some posters keep declaring otherwise.

If the BC Ath. Dept. did not want to be in the bowl game they could have turn it down and stayed home. Teams have refuse bowl invites!

No, he took a 4 win team and got them back to back 11 win seasons the jury is not out on him getting the best of his players. He's done an excellent job of getting the most out of what was left behind. Cupboard wasn't bare as we had some nice players but I'd just say it was not well balanced and he's had to try to cobble together certain areas like OL for a while. Next year the roster will basically be all his except for 5th year seniors.

RE: Thoughts On 2019 Football Season
How about the job Sam Crosa did this year? Remember that sound in your stomach and the tightness in your throat during previous seasons? Crosa went 51 of 51 in extra points and 14 of 19 in field goals [74%]. I'll take that. Although he had a few blocked kicks, he did have a game winning field goal against ECU [can't remember if there were any more]. He certainly settled that position down and didn't seem to lack confidence.

Yep. I hope we look around for another grad transfer to compete for the job.

Big Fick finished 2-0 against the P5 this season. His career record against said teams is 4-2. Not too shabby.

The previous regime...3-5

You may have forgot about Ohio State, but I don't blame you for doing so.

They are part of the OP3 (overpowered 3).

As Woody Hayes put it many years ago...nothing like a warm little ass in bed next to you to take the edge off a good football player...

For those of you who don't think our OL was THAT bad...

Quote:119. CINCINNATI BEARCATS

Highest-graded player: OG Morgan James – 66.1 (113th)

It's a good thing that Desmond Ridder could buy himself some time in the pocket on his own, because the Bearcats offensive line ranked just 127th in pass-blocking grade this season, which outdid their successful blocking in the run game. They allowed 16 sacks (21st-most) and 10 more hits, and they didn't have a single position group crack the top 100 in PFF overall grade.
