RE: AAC vs G4
It may be better to look at the AAC's bowl record vs the G4. Seeing how .500 and better AAC teams do vs .500 or better G4 teams would show which leagues have the best quality as opposed to games against bottom dwellers in 1 individual season. I'm sure the AAC crushes the G4 in bowls too. I'll do some research to see the AACs all time record vs the G4...

Does anyone have the AACs bowl record over last couple years? Total dominance I'm guessing.

Yeah i just did. I was thinking the AAC would be dominant. But it turns out they are 4-12 all time vs the G4 in bowls.

2019 Boca Raton: FAU 52-28 SMU
2019 Gasparilla: UCF 48-25 Marshall
2018 Cure: Tulane 41-24 Lousiana
2018 Gasparilla: Marshall 38-20 South Fl
2017 Frisco: Lousiana Tech 51-10 SMU
2017 Gasparilla: Temple 28-3 FIU
2017 Hawaii: Fresno St 33-27 Houston
2016 La Vegas: San Diego St 34-10 Houston
2016 Cure: Arkansas St 31-13 UCF
2016 Miami Beach: Tulsa 55-10 C. Mich
2016 Boca Raton: WKU 51-31 Memphis
2016 Armed Forces: LA Tech 48-45 Navy
2015 Miami Beach: WKU 45-35 So Fl
2015 Boca Raton: Toledo 32-17 Temple
2015 Hawaii: San Diego St 42-7 Cinci
2015 St. Pete: Marshall 16-10 UConn

I guess I was wrong. It's really weird, I dont think any other P6 has struggled with the G4 this much. There is time to turn things around but I'm wondering if at the next conference realignment the AAC might go back down to G5 status from the P6. I mean can you imagine if the Pac12 or ACC was 4-12 in bowl games against the G4? We arnt talking 8-8....that would cause some serious discussion about a P6 status. But 4-12. This is VERY concerning.

Our bowls usually match up teams from the G4 with better records (sometimes conference or division champs) against our middle. I think this is why the bowl record is lopsided. Whereas the regular season is just random matchups. It's not like the G4 was playing the UCF buzzsaw the last couple years as we were in NY6 bowls. Even if you combine the regular season and bowl records it's still impressive what the AAC has done against the G4.

Like to see a number of how many AAC teams played in bowl games with their regular season team and coaching staff intact. Has to be very low.

That said, I doubt even the ones with their teams intact could take down the true storied programs in a bowl game like UAB for example.

lol congrats on your champions beating our 4th to 7th place teams?? i guess
the p5 doesnt give g4 bowls...so you put your champions against the aac mid tier teams

curious why the g4 champs dont just play each other
i think its really telling youd rather play mid tier aac, than each other..i think it was 2 or 3 seasons ago, we played every single g4 champ in a bowl..none were vs our top 3 teams...

a c-usa vs sunbelt champ bowl...or mac or whatever would be fun for yall

the big 10 has a horrific historic bowl game record, and that is becuase they are the AAC of the p5 in respect to bowls...no one cares..not even adding we lose 3/4 coaches on average before bowl season...

also no one here is impressed with app state, sho to the sunbelt forum

Pretty common problem across G5, sadly. Your reward for over achieving is some dumpster fire P5 school poaching your coach.

Hmm yes the dumpster fire programs of Baylor, Texas, Georgia Tech, Florida State (2x), Nebraska, Virginia Tech. Notable bottom dweller programs of course.

Literally all the schools you listed have been considered dumpster fires or still are in the past 5 years.

My point was, it's a common G5 problem to have staffs poached around bowl time. It's not an exclusive problem of the AAC. But continue to be contrarian if it doesn't fit whatever narrative you were going for.

AAC loses more coaches than the other g5 before bowls....its not even close ...p5 only take the elite of the elite g4 coaches ..but they will take middling aac coaches .. temple, smu, usf, tulane will have coaches poached on 7/8 win seasons

and aac shools prefer assistants to g4 coaches, and the few times we take g4 coaches its after bowl season

I think they prefer Sun Belt coaches over G4 coaches/assistants.

You’re dumb. This makes no sense in response to what he said.

Bowls mean nothing. Aac still received the best contract with best tv coverage regardless of Bowl record. Guess this shows the Sports tv guys place more..emphasis on regular season wins. Teams like App view Bowl games as their Super Bowls.
