Especially when they were only willing to pay them less than $2 million today. $6 million vs $21 million if they come to the aac as a 3 team combo.
I think ESPN will only want 1 team. Too bad we can't dump a team to do a combo of Boise and one of these Air Force/Colorado State/SDSU

There you go, I'm willing to bet that, for example, if we added Georgia State or Buffalo to replace UConn they would get UConn's full share... The UConn value to ESPiN was WBB and contend for ESPN+, either of Georgia State or Buffalo would fell that need very nicely.

ESPN would be paying the AAC based on a certain amount of inventory and a set a specific value for that inventory, UConn's value was primarily MBB & WBB and the potential number of subscribers to ESPN+.
Again my point is tat if we add someone like Georgia State with 10-15% of thw Atlanta market or Buffalo with the entire Western New York, Northern PA, And Northeastern Ohio would make up for the loss of what UConn was offering Value wise to maintain the current contract for 13 members.

No. They left knowing they were in debt and depended on the alumni and fans to save them, and it was not football .
Wrong on both, they got sick and suffered from Forest Gump syndrome.
Stupid is as stupid does.

The next add should be one of four things:
1. #1 flagship in state
2. #2 "State" university
3. Private institution
4. Major city university (namesake)
There is a perception problem in the AAC, and the next add needs to help with that.

So you are saying BUFFALO, Hawaii, UMass, BYU, Lbery, Army or Air force otherwise we need to tap the FCS lever for #1 state Flagships.

There is a case for most of the MW as well. Look at how other power conferences are built. There is an institutional element at play here.

I want to see a large public University as the add. The problem with some in the AAC there is a growth ceiling.

Define growth. Fanbase size? Success? Budget?

Just from size of alumni base if winning has more potential for tv eyes and fans. Tulsa as an example has limited growth with a small alumni base. They have done well considering but they will never draw crowds and viewers.

I’m actually not making any argument at all. You made the assertion that ESPN would want those schools to pick up those market areas. I’m was simply pointing out a fact. ESPN already owns the rights to those schools and those market areas (to whatever degree the schools in question deliver those areas).
As for AAC schools being added to the Big12—.that will only happen for one of two reasons. The Big 12 will only add an AAC school if the new addition is valuable enough to increase the earnings of the existing Big12 teams—or if the Big12 needs to add schools in order to survive as a viable league (as replacements after being poached).

GA St would bring < 5% of the ATL market. They have 50K+ students & can't draw 20K to the games.

I tend to think that the same thought process applies to the AAC, this conference is as good if not better than the BIG EAST was, the mind set that of what the conference was in 2016 no longer applies... Yes I know about the money factor.
Would all the members of this conference be willing to stand together if in 5 years we would gain AQ (P6) status, and get the money at some point after that?
I believe that if the AAC stays together and gains AQ (P6) Status we would be battling for 3rd or fourth best conference every year.

We are already 5th best this year without anyone actually giving the AAC any credit.

They of course would be willing to stand together if they get AQ (P6) status. Now here's the truth---they would essentially "stay together" anyway because they have nowhere better to go. The real question is---"If the AAC got P6 status, would AAC members still leave for any of the other current P5 conferences if they were invited? I suspect any AAC member would probably still leave the AAC for a P5 invite---mainly because revenue, stability, and geographic coherence would probably be better in most any P5 conference a AAC school might get invited to. That said---I'd be just fine staying in the AAC for the long term if the AAC had "AQ" (P6) status.

You missed your chance to cull further when we restocked the first time. Considering historical timelines, you'd have to go down the line:
1. Tulsa
2. ECU
3. Tulane
4. SMU/UH/the rest
Also, the MW pairing left when you lost the autobid. You can get to 14 easily if you win it back.
Also, who is going to take all of those conf losses?

The State University of New York at Buffalo* - - also known as the University of Buffalo (or "SUNY Buffalo") - - checks off items 1, 2, and 4 on this list.

Their football stadium has a track. What is their athletic budget? What is their attendance? State of New York generally sucks for recruiting too. Not that high on Buffalo.

Buffalo could be a program that actually takes off. It would take some investment but may just be a good bet to make.

There you go, I'm willing to bet that, for example, if we added Georgia State or Buffalo to replace UConn they would get UConn's full share... The UConn value to ESPiN was WBB and contend for ESPN+, either of Georgia State or Buffalo would fell that need very nicely.
You do realize ESPN already has Georgia St and Buffalo content....every bit of it as a matter of fact. I think you should keep in mind that the AAC can actually end up being better without UConn than they were with UConn....IF they make the right addition/additions. Are Georgia St or Buffalo the schools that will make the AAC better----Or are they just warm body additions? I think you know the answer.
Using your logic the Big XII will never ad any teams from the AAC because ESPN already owns those contends... but I agree that we are better off without UConn.
ESPN would be paying the AAC based on a certain amount of inventory and a set a specific value for that inventory, UConn's value was primarily MBB & WBB and the potential number of subscribers to ESPN+.
Again my point is tat if we add someone like Georgia State with 10-15% of the Atlanta market or Buffalo with the entire Western New York, Northern PA, And Northeastern Ohio would make up for the loss of what UConn was offering Value wise to maintain the current contract for 13 members.
GA St would bring < 5% of the ATL market. They have 50K+ students & can't draw 20K to the games.
I'm sure it would be higher as a member of the AAC... Not saying that they will be a member of the AAC.

Honestly, the only recruits from NY that Buffalo would want are STUDENT/Athlete. As a member of the AAC I doubt that they would have a hard time recruiting OH, PA, NJ, and any of the southern hotbeds for football...And do you really believe that the Northeast no longer produces standout Basketball players!
They can possibly check off all of the boxes for a new member... I personally prefer a large enrollment University from the largest Urban market not yet a part of the AAC or a BYU/Service Academies/VCU Combo.
