Also Dooley still needs to cut the rotations and settle in on a top 8 or so like even he projected. Playing 11 players when we don't press or play at a high pace is stupid. That alone would help this team compete by actually having it's best players on the court most of the minutes. Wild concept I know.

People overestimate the resumes of the real bubble teams this time of year. Its pretty bleak in early March. Our record is poor, but we’ll also have a Top 25 OOC SoS it appears.

OT: Huge commitment tonight for UC landing Tari Eason tonight.

Do you think Cincy is capable of going 14-4 or 13-5?

Their non-con display certainly casts a lot of doubt out there.

I'm not saying they can't do it, but based on what I've seen so far, it's gonna be an uphill battle.

We can certainly do that.

We don't suck. We just can't get our sh** together at present.

There's a big difference.

I really think we are witnessing something special in Jayden Gardner. This kid is just an absolute monster. 6'7" 235lbs and will just outwork everyone on the court. Plays angry. Love this kid.

He's good, but he will need some help. Once you start playing good defensive teams they will be able to key on him and shut him down (relatively)

Ankle. He was out almost the entire offseason. He limps noticeably.

While I wouldn't argue that Gardner isn't a good player, there are limitations to Player Efficiency Ranking. Most of the players on the rankings play a lot of minutes, and are by far the best players on their team. Teams with a lot of depth often don't have players that are ranked by those metrics.

After a quick perusal of the ranking list, I noticed that teams like Memphis and WSU (there are other teams too that this applies to) don't have anyone on that list, but Tulsa and ECU did. I think that most people on here will agree that Memphis and Wichita State have some good players who maybe are better than those on the list.

WSU and Memphis are complete teams that don't rely on 1 player. Individual stats will never shine on teams like that... But they will win more

It has nothing to do with minutes they are playing in games, in fact there are players that play role player 10 minutes a game included in ESPN's list unlike other places weed out the role player, but they are highly effective in their minutes though obviously.

This is a measure of the value and efficiency per possession and the fact Gardner is as dominate as he is in 32 minutes a game is even that more impressive. Also the fact he does it with no other real option to take the pressure off him and one of the worst 3 point and spacing teams in the nation really speaks to how good he has been. He produces despite it infact.

Echenique has a 27 PER, but apparently hasn't played enough games to qualify? You also have 6 players with over an 18.5 PER which is pretty incredible. It's not like you don't have guys that show up great in this metrics. While is true they don't get higher usage, if they had it higher usage usually comes at the cost of lower effiency to players as they have to force more shots.

Wiseman had a 51 PER in the games he played , but they have several guys over 20 PER as well. 20.0 basically fringe/ borderline All Conference level production per possession, (15.0 is Average)..

What is the nature of his limitation?

Dislocated his ankle during the summer. Supposedly he still has limitations on the amount he can practice currently and according to Dooley isn't really in great game shape yet. He's the guy though that has the upside if he can get 100% this year can be a very good player in this league. It's just gonna take time on him though. It's very fair for people to go ahead and write off the other JUCO's like Baruti, JJ Miles, etc as busts that were overhyped by ECU fans, but Robinson is the one who could end up being as good as expected even before this season ends.

This is an absolute must win for Houston right ?

I mean if they lose to tech it’s gonna take near perfection in the league to make a tourney I would think

Yes. Not because it will help their resume but losing would hurt. It's a Q3 game. Might squeeze in as a low Q2. They really need this and to beat Washington in order to have some sort of quality win going into conference play.

Edit: just noticed that South Carolina jumped to 93 in the NET after yesterday so Houston and Wichita gained a Q2 win. So that helps

At UC’s drop off came bc of a coaching change. Houston is a disappointment to the league at this point

This is why I liked mick at UC. Uc just never dropped off under him no matter who we lost.
