playoffs? of course. But title contenders? i don't see it.
Replace “is going to” with ”could” and I would agree. It “could” very well be an 8-3/7-4 type year. Or ”could” be an 10-1/9-2 title contender type year.
The only known is out of approximately 54 2 deep players (including special teams), we know are losing 15 seniors on the 2 deep/12 starters.
Of the approximately 39 non senior 2 deepers:
-We don’t know what other offseason losses there will be.
-We don’t know how good the 10 returning (non special teams) starters will be. Some guys improve a lot season to season, some a little, some none at all. Heck, some regress.
-We don’t know how good the other 29 2 deepers will be.
-We don’t know how good the at least 15 new faces in the 2 deep will be.
-We don’t know how many transfers will get, at what positions, and how good they’ll be. They could range from total flops, to 2 deepers, to starters, to All CAA, to AA.
-We don’t know how many (if any) impact true Fr will have making the 2 deep (or even starting).
-We don’t know who the stating QB will be, or if he’s even on the roster.
With all those unknowns, and more unknowns that knowns, to definitively say is going 8-3/7-4 type year is plain silly. You don’t know. Neither do I, or anyone else, what type of season next year will be. Will get a little better idea in the Spring, a little more in the Summer, and won’t know for sure until the Fall.
