RE: Revised TV deal coming
Like I said, nobody in the Rockies and west coast will accept any invites from AAC. Too much hassles like spending more money to go east coast. I do not think Houston, SMU, Tulane and Tulsa will last long in the AAC. Tulsa and Tulane have the worst attendance in the stands the past several years. Tulsa is under 4000 students while my alma mater in D2 have 12,000 students. I do not think you all get this. Army tried with C-USA and it failed. Adding BYU or any MWC schools would be a failure. You have to get ESPN to bump it up to $15 million per school a year before any of these schools will join.

We are starting to get over being so shy, and figuring out that playing hard-to-get doesn’t always turn out that great.

Point {1} Tulane at 20271 is better than FIVE mwc schools. Tulsa 18741 only better than three in the mwc, but also better than HALF of CUSA, all but one of the MAC, and seven of ten Sun Belt.
Point {2} There were a lot of structural reasons Army failed in CUSA two decades ago. They have started addressing all of them. Possibly they're not ready yet for the AAC - still have two FCS on the schedule more often than not, and their three FBS wins this year came against teams with a total of eight wins. They still lag Navy in being ready for Power 6 competition (and Air Force does as well) STRUCTURALLY (things like an independent 501.c.3 athletic association, facilities, etc) but while it was in a season that may prove to be a flash-in-the-pan success, Army West Point's performance in the 2018 Armed Forces Bowl is solid evidence that what was true in 1998 is not necessarily true now. Even with three years of success, they probably don't have the scheduling challenges that Navy was facing in 2011-12 -- after years of Navy beating multiple BCS auto-qual conference teams, a LOT of schools weren't picking up the phone when they saw an Annapolis number.
Point {3} You are totally guessing on what the threshhold might be. For BYU, you're probably on target, but the pride/perception issues are more of a holdback for BYU than straight financials. For mwc schools who could find an Olympic sports landing place (AF, SDSU, BSU) the current $7M media plus consistent $1M more per school from CFP/bowls than the mwc...the numbers could very well work without getting to $15M. I'm guessing too, but actually looking at numbers instead of pulling ideas out of my hind end like you.

Nailed it. The AAC is better served remaining at 11 than adding Buffalo. The AAC has separated itself from the G4. Adding lower brands weakens all of the work that each and every AAC school has done to elevate the conference brand.
Stay at 11 for now. Army, Air Force, BYU, Boise, and SDSU likely aren’t joining and any other brand that isn’t one of those four is, in my opinion, beneath this league. Expanding just to expand is dumb. Until the end of a waiver forces the AAC to expand, stay put. A frankenconference model of more football only schools combined with more basketball only schools is shortsighted. Sit on the expansion choice for a year or two and then pick the best proven all sports member at that time.

Now this makes sense. If the AAC is going west. BYU anfd BSU makes the most sense, if one FB team is added.

Of all the potential additions to the AAC, Buffalo is the only university with AAU status.
That may not seem like a big deal to "US" on this board, it might be the one point that will allow presidents to justify their additions.

I am sure the presidents are going to vote Buffalo. If this was the case, Buffalo would already be added. I am sure Buffalo is ESPiNs choice.

Agree with everything you said, especially "A frankenconference model of more football only schools combined with more basketball only schools is shortsighted"..
The only FB only addition would be ARMY. AF has has their Olympic sports in the MW and although they might not win at the rate of the public universities, they are not embarrassing themselves either.

I appreciate your well thought out and considered points. We could add in several more. However, this guy is either just incompetent, 13 years old or a troll. We should just have copy pasta for these people. Tulane was added for a reason. Amazing Location to visit, fertile recruiting, elite academics, long history (sugar bowls, rose bowls, undefeated seasons, SEC championships), large endowment ($1B+), reasonable sized market and only LSU nearby. With minimal success, Tulane will see great momentum moving forward. . . As we see now with the 4th best recruiting class in the aac and multiple bowls in a row. Attendance comes with winning, it’s building now. Thanks for the support aac folks, and I hope ECU and Tulsa bounce back.

Not saying that Buffalo is the "choice" but they are definitely ahead of the likes of ODU, UAB, Georgia State, FIU, FAU, UTSA, APP State, and everyone east of the Mississippi mentioned on this board.

Just because Buffalo is AAU?
I am sorry that a NE team is leaving, but Buffalo is not the answer, if in the east.

We don't need to worry about any additions until 2022 unless ESPiN is trying to do something stupid in this "revision"

Staying at 11 is fine with me. A change in the CFP changes that.

Offer Army with the clause that they will be in a different division than Navy and never scheduled to play Navy during the season. The only chance of them meeting up would be if they both win their divisions and play in the conference championship game. Even if they play in the CCG (which is unlikely both would be that good at the same time) they can still have their December game.
