App St doesn't have anywhere near as good of a win as Cincy would have vs Memphis. Sorry, but that's reality.

Do hope they set up App St vs an AAC team in a bowl... App St vs Cincy or Memphis.

I mean, USC and UNC are for sure not good Power 5 teams, but you can't tell me Memphis is better than those teams. Memphis squeaked by a an awful Ole Miss team whose only wins were Arkansas, SELA, Vanderbilt, and NMSU.

Consider the league had 4 head coaching changes and a 5th school with a major coaching shake-up, and the league is consensus better than CUSA and will almost surely finish ahead of CUSA in the CFP conference standings and make it 3 of the last 4 seasons.

And Memphis beat Houston by the exact same margin as Oklahoma but on the road instead of at home.

Memphis is good. I would certainly take them over UNC and USCeast most days. But then I would take UGA over USCeast 95% of the time.

Why then is Memphis ranked and UNC/South Carolina not ranked? So yes, I can tell you that Memphis is better than those teams.

I some what did agree with this, we are 29 in the coaches poll, and 32 in the AP.

The old adage applies - a Bird in the Hand is better than 2 in the bush.

App wins - Guaranteed Top 20
ULL wins - No Guarantee either finish Top 25

but also the possible humiliation of having a 1 loss champion not chosen ahead of a 2 loss AAC Cincy. I don't know that helps them out much either.

No more humiliated than a 1 loss Boise would be. Boise also was ranked starting in week 2. They had it all there and goofed.

Big 12 title contenders will be pulling for ULL. Knocking app (or BSU or Cincinnati) out of the top 25 might sneak KSU or ISU back in.

App is an established brand no matter what happens the rest of the way. ULL, with an athletic brand that sounds like a state flagship, is launched if they win out and could finish ranked. The Sun Belt would end the the year with two established brands and two emerging brands (ULL nd GaSo.).

You don't root for ULL but it certainly is not heartbreaking. Hope they win and that both take care of business in their bowls.
