If they don't agree to a settlement, which I think is the smart thing to do, then it will drag on all season and then long after Wiseman is gone a court somewhere down the road will side with the NCAA and that's when the punishment will come.

In the late 70's the NCAA ordered UNLV to suspend Jerry Tarkanian...

Tark got an injunction and it stayed in courts until 1988. You know what happened when the case was finally settled...NOTHING.

The only thing that will happen to us when this case is settled and if we lose is we will have to vacate wins and give back tourney credits. Same punishment as the Derrick Rose Deal essentially.

Very good possibility that it might be more than just that. Have to remember Memphis could very easily be seen as a repeat offender which can possibly bring on a harsher punishment.

Yep. They don’t want to be too much inconsistent with their flagship host.

It's pretty obvious this is going on. Parrish has taken a ton of pride in the fact that he started (broke?) the Wiseman story when he questioned why he was sitting out for the preseason games. He eluded that there could be some eligibility issues at that time. Everyone laughed at him when the university said he's eligible.

Now that this story has come out, he's essentially been yelling "I told you so" in many different ways. Parrish (and 92.9) is trying to broadcast this story as a big deal to increase his reputation as a news reporter/breaker.

I typically listen to Parrish and enjoy his show. His handling of this isn't winning him any listeners, though, and is pissing a lot of Memphians off.

Parrish is a douchbag. He may have a nice gig, but still a douchbag.

Yep and yep. I stopped listening for now. I'm tired of hearing about this case. It's exhausting. I'll pay attention when there is something new or substantial to report.

Hopefully the lawyers can pull off a win on Monday.

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't have a great feeling about how it will work out, but man I hope it does. It'll be gut wrenching to watch this team play without James and with sanctions looming like a dark cloud.

All I want is to see this monster team move forward and do big things.

Agree, also Epstein didn't kill himself.

I stopped listening to that station years ago. Not sure which one didn't die on the Drake and Zeke show but the survivor is a douchebag. He is negative about everything.

Hahaha yeah he was negative before and now that Zeke’s gone there’s no one to balance him out. I used to love their show when I was young but now Drake is just an old man yelling at kids to get off his lawn.

If you missed the Toosday Keef segment then you wasted your chance.

It was some kinda good, frankly.

The Supreme Court ruled against him in 1988, but he remained UNLV's coach after a settlement with the NCAA. Tarkanian sued them again in 1992, and the case was settled when he received $2.5 million in 1998.

This gives James and the UofM a leg to stand on. Not a great one, but it’s something. If they found out that information later, we will get shafted hard.

IMO it seems the NCAA knew about the assistance back in May. "Somehow" they didn't know or didn't give enough concern about Penny's 2008 donation back in May. Now it's "somehow" become a problem.

If anyone wants to listen to Randy Fishman's interview.

https://929espn.radio.com/media/audio-ch...dy-fishman

This right here. When I started reading the thread this is what I was going to comment about.

From listening to Fishman, they are wide open to a settlement (and I think that is what they are looking for). Wiseman doesn't want to be left hanging with no prescribed penalty. They could give him a 1 game suspension or a lifetime ban and anything inbetween. Having lawyers to do the negotiating most likely will ensure him the least penalty possible.

Also, speaking of 92.9.... it is aggravating me that they all seem to only focus on the booster aspect of it. Like the entire case is predicated around whether or not Penny was a booster... if he is a booster then Wiseman is ineligible, if he isnt, Wiseman is eligible. That is not what the case hinges on. To me it is the fact they cleared him, stated they made a mistake but still would honor their decision, waited until he was enrolled, going to classes, and practicing with the team to make a new judgement. If there was no new information, which his lawyers say there was not, the NCAA is screwed.. But I have not heard 92.9 address this much at all.
