RE: Game Week/DAY: @TOL
The team that goes to Detroit from the West will have three losses. Every game for every team is losable and without much work, you can look at the remaining schedules of our division rivals and see how — if EMU can win out — we might still go play for a championship.

These losses hurt but it’s not over until it’s over, and — despite some of the garbage posted here — it ain’t over.

Go Eagles. Extremely proud of the fight.

IF...

BSU loses to WMU, CMU, and either KSU or MIAMI....

And WMU beats BSU and NIU, but loses to OHIO...

And CMU loses to NIU and UT, but beats BSU...

And UT beats CMU, but loses two of their three against KSU, NIU, and UB...

And NIU beats CMU and TOL, before losing to EMU and WMU...

And EMU beats UB, UKR, NIU, and KSU...

Then both EMU & WMU are tied at 5-3 and we win the tie-breaker.

That's one scenario. Just sayin'. And there's not really a single major surprise up there. The MAC may not have a dominate team this year, but it has a lot of good ones. We can be happy we're through the toughest part. And we got the single win we may need the most. I'm not giving up. I believe.

Creighton conservatism leads to another close loss. Shocking. Shocking I tell you.

The man doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes.

I was thinking the same. Should have been more aggressive at the end of regulation. Last week they won because they went for the touchdown. This week they were more worried about milking the clock, and left it to the leg of an unreliable kicker. NIU in 2017, San Diego State and NIU last year, Toledo this year, all the same script.

The hell is this even referring to? CC was like *controversially* aggressive today. A running team in the rain and some super bad breaks cost us the game. That's the take. No more bad takes.

Exactly. You are much more likely to lose the game on the leg of a kicker than by turning the ball over because of aggressive play calling.

Anyone feeling bad should go watch the drive to tie the game. It's insanely beautiful. Like why-you-watch-football beautiful. Epic conditions and players fighting like hell when they have to and making plays. It's awesome. Starts at 3:13:00.

https://www.espn.com/watch/player?id=626...2b60a42442

Wish we could've finished, but man -- I love this team. I love what they stand for.

Thank you for your opinion, but other posters seem to get what I’m referring to. As does Rob Rubick.

Save the bad take angle for your own self-analysis.

Lol. Okay. Your takeaway from the game is that after storming back from 21 down in an unceasing rain storm, capped by a 26 yard explosive RUN by Shaq Vann, followed after by our forcing a turnover with under two minutes remaining on the Toledo 23 — after all of that, your take is that a.) we should have thrown end zone shots instead of handing to Shaq and setting up our regularly-scheduled game-winning legend kicker and b.) that failing to take shots is what cost us the game and is otherwise indicative of Creighton’s fatal flaw?

Just no. Bad take. Awful take.

Before the season started CC said that they needed to move past mediocrity (his word).

Yes, they fought back today. I suspect that UT had a letdown after building a big lead. Then they were gifted a victory with that fumble, but gave it right back. CC's strategy on that last possession normally works, but he's seen it fail enough to keep relying on it.

Settling for the FG attempt in regulation cost us the game. That FACT has nothing to do whatsoever with the comeback, or with what happened earlier in the game. Not difficult to understand. And again, Rubick said as much on the radio.

In isolation, it’s an unfortunate outcome. But this exact scenario has happened repeatedly under CC. So he has to wear it.

Yes, how many times do you need to be bitten by the kicker to try something different?

They won against WMU because they were aggressive throwing the ball late in the game. That strategy was called for today, and CC reverted/regressed back into his old habits.

“Settling for the FG” is such a bone-head description of what was happening and accounts zero for a host of previously disastrous aggressive decisions, several weather-related turnovers on both sides, and the fact that our last two TDs were scored by the person we were entrusting with the ball. And to say it’s why we lost is even more bizarre! We’re guaranteed to hit those endzone shots? What?

I like how you’ve bolded a sentence that’s totally unintelligible. And what is this “trying something different?” You want them to go for it—without Glass who was hurt Elway’ing into the red zone — instead of kicking for the win on the 16 yard line?

Dear Mr. Creighton,

You are abysmal in close games. Please reexamine your in-game tactics.

Thanks,
Eagle Nation

Yes. Yes.

Yes, and once more...Yes.

In all seriousness — you have half of your total career posts on this topic. You are either on the coaching staff, or are closely tied to it.

Reflect on what worked against WMU, and maintain that aggressiveness.

Including this game, Chad is 3 of 10 from 30-39 yards.
