Look, I've put up with your insistence that you're not a democrat, through every democrat talking point post of yours, because I have said you were to the left of the democrats. But you are no small government advocate. True liberals, in the classical liberal tradition, are.

There are many factions and facets of liberalism. And while yes I do believe in small government in many areas, no, I guess I don't openly advocate for that, but why in the world do I need to? It's not like I have any power to change anything in that regard. So no, I'm not a classical liberal.
And you've stumbled on one of the myriad reasons why I don't claim to be a Democrat is because of these labels everyone feels they need to assign to someone. Labels are idiotic.
Bottom line, I'm not a registered Democrat and I don't only vote for them. I vote for candidates and their position, not their letter.

For the record, just to be clear, I consider myself to be a libertarian.

I have asked for democrat ballots in primaries on two occasions--2008 and 2016--to vote for Hillary because I considered her the least objectionable democrat, and trying to get rid of others whom I considered more dangerous seemed like the most important consideration. So far I'm 1 for 2 on it working. I will do it again in 2020 if she is in the field, for the same reason. It's not a big deal in Texas. You don't have to "register as" anything or pledge to support the nominees in the general. They just ask which ballot you want and you tell them. The only restriction I am aware of is that you can't vote in one party's primary and then vote in the other party's runoff. That means I pretty much punt local elections, since Montgomery County goes about 75% republican. The one question I will have is if Hillary is not officially in the field, do I take a democrat ballot and write her in or take a republican ballot and vote in the local elections that matter.

I seldom vote for anything but libertarians in the general. To me, trying to get libertarian numbers up is far more important than one insignificant vote is in deciding Texas. The last republican president I voted for was Reagan in 1980. The last democrat I voted for was Leticia vandePutte in 2014, because I had worked with both her and Dan Patrick at different times on different things, and she was the one who wasn't crazy. I did vote for Ted Cruz in 2018 because I know too much about the O'Rourkes.
