These guys are not playing with any intensity at all. If this is the face of this team MAC play is going to be rough the rest of the season!

You could see this coming from a mile away. Everyone shrugged off the power 5 games as better competition. The team is sloppy as hell, poorly coached, and undisciplined. It’s been a long time since we seen this terrible of a stretch of NIU football.

Very true! We have definitely taken a step back. It’s frustrating:(

I think we need to just consider this a learning season. This team is just not playing well in any phase.

When NIU left the field vs UAB last season, the rebuild flag was flying. I'm not ready to give up on Hammock but wow does he have his work cut out for him. Really bad mistakes from him early in his career. NIU will be ok there. Have to get more talent back on roster though, that's the biggest obstacle right now

I just want to say that after a fumble late in the third and the team was falling apart, i saw two players joking and laughing around. They were backups and I’m not going to say who they were...but it pissed the **** out of me. I doubt they will see the field anyway, but it rubbed me the wrong way

That’s such a BS cop out. This “team” has so many starters that returned from a MAC championship winning team. There’s no reason to play like this. Love or hate Rod Carey, but he never lost to Ball State. This was one of the most embarrassing loses I could remember given the complete meltdown at home. 3- win team

I was thinking this all game. Don’t have an identity. Eased up with 8 minutes to go in the first quarter. We aren’t very good right now. I can stomach a loss but losing like that was embarrassing.

Here's a wild and crazy idea ... start Childers, just for the hell of it. Going to a pass-happy offense is too much change for returning players. Maybe Childers can look like he did the last half of the MACC vs Buffalo. Worth a shot. Despite his "flips" Bowers not a threat to run and other teams know it. And 111 yards of penalties compared to 35 for Ball State ?! No excuse.

Thomas Hammock didn't have the luxury of having Jordan Lynch and an Orange Bowl team returning his first season--Hot Rod did. We are playing a different offensive system and have lost a lot in our defensive front 7 between inuries and graduation/Sutton leaving early.

That’s a sorry excuse. We are returning a MAC championship team with plenty of talent retuning. We haven’t been disciplined at all. We lost a game we should have won. Period.

Sometimes players a pat on the back and sometimes they need a kick in the butt; the latter is needed now!

He had a MAC championship team though. He also has a decent QB in Bowers to help with the new offensive transition. How do you explain giving up a 14-3 lead to an inferior opponent (I’m starting to think otherwise)

Problem is Hammock is heralded for his recruiting to get talent to come to NIU. He’s currently ranked 79th in recruiting right now and 5th in the MAC. So the guy can’t coach and isn’t recruiting well. I understand it takes time......but the hate for Rod Carey was so strong that it put blinders on everyone. Hammock has shown us nothing positive outside of a greater social media presence. Cool.

That team that won the MAC last year wasn't even that good. We won because of our defense last year and the two best players on that defense no longer play on our team. That same team only won the MAC by 1 point and got crushed in a bowl game by a school that didn't even have a football program 2 years earlier.
