ODU adds game at Liberty to 2023 schedule

ODU gets $800,000, no return game. The schools are playing a home-and-home in 2021 and 2022.

Yep that is exactly why ODU is taking this game.800K for an instate game will probably save them some dough on travel.

I drive through Lynchburg, VA occasionally, and the Liberty campus is growing like nothing I have ever seen. Other than that and their position on science, I never knew a ton about them. Yesterday I read this article, and it sure raises some questions.

As a Charlotte fan I would like to play them. An away game within driving distance and Liberty is beatable. I’ve never visited Lynchburg but most parts of Virginia are beautiful.

The wife and I did an online program there for a teaching add on endorsement. We had to go one summer for an on campus, week long residency course. It was supposed to be education law. The majority of the class was how to proselytize without breaking the law. They’re a private school so they have a right to teach what they want... just call it something different.

Best part of the trip was that even though we were married they wouldn’t let us stay in a dorm together. So we picked a local hotel and went out with some friends to the bowling alley one night after class. Not much else to do in Lynchburg 10 years ago. Anyway we had a couple of beers. We dropped our friends off and they were not allowed in the dorm for breaking curfew and smelling of alcohol. They mean business there. We were all grown adults. Ah, Liberty... at least it was accredited and met our license needs.

ODU adds game at Liberty to 2023 schedule
This has brought up some good debate on our board. My opinion is an $800k for non body bag possibly a win (don't look up what happened last time) seems like an easy decision. We still have a north endzone to replace. Until we have our infrastructure in place, I don't mind stuff like this even if it's not the greatest look for us.

They are, just not Lynchburg. I've been through a few times on my way to Charlottesville and Shenandoah NP.

I know Liberty has tons of money but why in the world any school in this conference is doing a buyout game with them? It doesn’t help the perception of this conference as tarnished as it is.
