You're probably right. However, it bodes well for us if they go undefeated going into the AAC championship game. We want to play and beat a Top 10 (they won't get in Top 5 regardless of what they do) team in AAC champ game.

On a side note: USC and FSU are both projected to win 7 games. I believe that gets those coaches fired. Both coaches need solid seasons. Not .500 seasons. This would make for a wild off season in the coach's carousel. I feel secure with our coach, but USC or FSU throwing offers at him would be worry-some.

I'd imagine Norvell to FSU in a heart beat, USC, not so much.

RE: Over under 9.5 wins
I’m a little nervous about the expectations on this years squad. We lost two difference makers on offense in Pollard and Henderson, which means, in my opinion, the defense is going to have to step up in order to meet those expectations... and Ive been waiting on a stout Tiger defense to emerge for what seems like 2 decades. We’ll see. I know we’ve recruited much better but its hard to replace pros.

I look for Coxie, Patrick Taylor, and Gainwell to fill that void. Our offense creates space and helps that situation as well.
Edit: Forgot Pop Williams. He's right there with Patrick Taylor. We'll say his name a lot this year, I'd suspect.

He doesn't seem like the country club type. You make a point. But he's great at every facet of the job. Xs and Os, marketing, recruiting, media. He even has a fun style of play. I hate to say it but he fits anywhere. Both scare me a bit.
Edit: And if we go undefeated. Sheeesh. Not to mention, it's a bad time for a coaching hire (esp in Football). We're sitting with an Interim AD. For the record, it's hard to find things to worry about. GREAT day to be a Tiger. But, as a planner....and I hope our next AD is.....you have to be prepared for such things.

This is a system oriented offense that relies on a decent to good QB with athletes at the skill positions. We were very fortunate with Henderson developing as he did. Pollard performed as expected except for KO returns. The number White put up last year were very good considering inexperience and injuries. He should be more comfortable in same situations this year and barring injuries and too many first half only games, I think he will throw for 4,000 yards but I’m afraid the schedule is too week for that.

Since we debate heavily when we disagree, I should post when I absolutely agree with you!!! I knew Henderson was going to be a beast when we signed him, but last year was magic.
We have better depth than any time I have seen a Tiger team in 4 decades. Players will step up.

Side note: I will be absolutely shocked if Coach Norvell leaves here after this season. It would take a perfect situation and I am not sure that will happen. Hint: USC is NOT it.

RE: Over under 9.5 wins
Can anyone confirm if the over/under 9.5 wins is what they offer in Tunica sportsbook? If so, is there juice you have to pay to put the bet on? I know everyone is excited and thinking we are going to win it all this year, but I love the under 9.5 wins for this season. The more I look at it, the more I think the absolute most this team wins is at 9. This doesn't mean we can't still win our conference championship and win a good bowl game. Say we are at 9 wins going into the last game of the year against Cincy, then I can just hedge the bet by betting on Memphis to cut down on my loss.

Thanks for posting.
In general, using these odds I think if I had to bet, the only two I would probably bet the under is Tulsa and UConn. Otherwise, not much respect for the AAC.
No faith in Houston really surprises me. I think they win 7 easily, but look for them to win at least 8.

Considering Vegas has the Tigers favored to go undefeated, I’ll go with the over and say 11-1.

We weren't fortunate with Henderson. Anyone could see that he was a special talent the second he stepped on campus. Everyone expected him to keep getting better.

Not all special talents average 8-9 yards a carry, routinely break 60 yd TD runs, and are 2cd round picks in NFL. It’s called developing athletic skills into NFL quality football skills. His freshman year was rather pedestrian for a “special talent”.

You, your 3 other aliases and one other poster are the only ones continuing with this dumb "week" argument; now evolving into the stupidity that his freshman season was pedestrian. Every time a great player becomes great it is fortunate? DeAngelo rushed for less than 700 yards and 5 TD's his freshman season. Anyone with a brain could tell that he was going to be a great player.

I have zero aliases. I’m not doing it for you but look at “special talents” freshman year and see if any was 2cd string and 500ish yards. By saying we were fortunate, I can guarantee not a single coach thought he would DEVELOP into a back with his accomplishments and numbers his Junior year running Norvell’s offense.
DeAngelo was keyed on by D every play even as freshman and played only 10 games and was our LEADING RUSHER AT CLOSE TO 700 yards.
Darrell HAS SAID REPEATEDLY he developed his game at Memphis and was grateful for coaching staff. Not player speak either.
