Vegas does not project us to go undefeated, they're projecting us to go either 9-3 or 10-2.

Being favored in every individual game is by no means projecting to go 12-0.

I didn't say 12-0, I said 11-1, which I base on the fact the Tigers will be favored in every game this season, but think they will stumble at some point and lose a game.

SBNATION wrote an article in April that mentions Memphis will be favored in every game in 2019 by at least 6 points.
Below is a quote and the link to the article.

"The Tigers are a projected favorite by at least six points in every game, and that includes a Week 1 visit from Ole Miss."

Memphis football preview 2019

I forgot the statistical formula used when their is a numerical advantage to one team but cumulatively our odds of winning the first 3 are significantly reduced than winning the first. Winning 11 of. 12 being less than a touchdown favorite are probably in the 10-20% probability range.

It’s very hard to do, let alone what UCF did in going undefeated. I’m reluctantly going with 9-3 or 8-4 due to loss of playmakers. If White has improved as much as I think he has, bump that up a game on the win side each way.

We were very fortunate with Henderson developing as he did. Pollard performed as expected except for KO returns. The number White put up last year were very good considering inexperience and injuries. He should be more comfortable in same situations this year and barring injuries and too many first half only games, I think he will throw for 4,000 yards but I’m afraid the schedule is too week for that.

We weren't fortunate with Henderson. Anyone could see that he was a special talent the second he stepped on campus. Everyone expected him to keep getting better.

Not all special talents average 8-9 yards a carry, routinely break 60 yd TD runs, and are 2cd round picks in NFL. It’s called developing athletic skills into NFL quality football skills. His freshman year was rather pedestrian for a “special talent”.

You, your 3 other aliases and one other poster are the only ones continuing with this dumb "week" argument; now evolving into the stupidity that his freshman season was pedestrian. Every time a great player becomes great it is fortunate? DeAngelo rushed for less than 700 yards and 5 TD's his freshman season. Anyone with a brain could tell that he was going to be a great player.

I have zero aliases. I’m not doing it for you but look at “special talents” freshman year and see if any was 2cd string and 500ish yards. By saying we were fortunate, I can guarantee not a single coach thought he would DEVELOP into a back with his accomplishments and numbers his Junior year running Norvell’s offense.

DeAngelo was keyed on by D every play even as freshman and played only 10 games and was our LEADING RUSHER AT CLOSE TO 700 yards.

Darrell HAS SAID REPEATEDLY he developed his game at Memphis and was grateful for coaching staff. Not player speak either.

The coaches, the board and insiders ALL said that Henderson was going to be better than Jamarius Henderson, who had been really good to that point. Henderson waited his turn is all. Same dumb argument over and over.

Yep.

Mississippi HS produces a metric sh*t tonne of college football recruits, probably the most per capita, either it or Louisiana.

And yet Ole Miss remains and will forever be a major conference bottom feeder.

At a school with some tradition like a USC...he would do the same as he is doing here... He'd kill it.
Maybe not year one, but once he had the kinds of athletes he is looking for in his offense...oh hell yeah he would.
That being said...he'd have to have a REALLY good candidate as a defensive coordinator walking in to that situation...as his "just outscore them" mentality wouldn't be as welcome at USC as it is here in the non power 5.

Here is the deal PennyWisemanShooters…

Quote:DeAngelo was keyed on by D every play even as freshman and played only 10 games and was our LEADING RUSHER AT CLOSE TO 700 yards.

Dante Brown averaged more carries per game; DeAngelo only averaged 10 carries per game. To say that defenses were keying on someone who got the ball 1 out of every 7 plays is idiotic even by your bottom of the barrel standards. This falls into line with the PennyWisemanShooters mantra that Henderson wasn't that good. It kills you that you are openly mocked for saying this, regardless of what your ID of the day is, but you are too dumb to take your losses and drop it.

Quote:Darrell HAS SAID REPEATEDLY he developed his game at Memphis and was grateful for coaching staff. Not player speak either.

So we were "fortunate" that Henderson developed, but weren't because DeAngelo did or any other player did? DeAngelo never got good coaching? The name changes but the dumbness stays the same.

And btw, cough...cough..."new guy" please give me a list of how I have shown my ignorance on several subjects. I have barely been active since you joined. Take your time PennyWisemanShooters

Lets just hope it does NOT rain! 12-0,13-0,14-0 require good weather indeed.
I'd have to settle on 10-2, suspecting that the weather will not hold.

He sees what a moderately successful Coach Fuente is getting at VA Tech. One season, marred by injuries and young players and everyone there wants him fired.

He recruited there. (Which is why Arizona State took such a hit when he left...along with several other coaches who left with him...I believe Norvell took the best recruiters from ASU with him).

Fuente may have hit his ceiling at VT.
Injuries are a part of the game...but there are few coaches who have been able to use that excuse to justify keeping their jobs.
VT got Fuente expecting him to help them take that next step...back to being elite as they were for a short time, and for whatever reason, it hasn't happened...yet.

I'll never understand Fuente taking that job. He should have held out for a better one. They are crazy about football and playing in a major conference, but it isn't the easiest area to recruit, they aren't a marquee program, and they've only had success with one coach.

If the school was located in the middle of a recruiting hotbed; a big name that had recently fallen on hard times, Fuente could have gotten the recruiting boost he desperately needs, because he isn't great at it.

There is a massive difference in PAC12 expectations at most schools he would likely leave for and Memphis. There isn't a massive difference in pay. UCLA was only paying Mora 3.1, which is less than $300k more than Coach Norvell makes at Memphis. They have paid more to get Chip Kelly. But Coach Norvell's current pay puts him in the top half of coaches in the PAC12.

Regardless, just because he followed a coach there, doesn't mean that he wants to coach in the PAC. I really don't believe he does.

Once again, I will be shocked that he leaves here this season unless it's just an opportunity he can't pass up. Those are few and far between.

I don’t agree with last statement only because each season brings huge surprises these days. Who is the next guy they hang in effigy for alleged sexual assault 30 years ago? Who will massively underperform?

But I totally agree about the Pac12. Hasn’t won a national championship in basketball since 1997 (Arizona) and how many playoffs have they won? They have a poor TV contract compared to other P5s; ever tried finding a Pac12 game on TV other than a few on the major networks? And with those salary numbers, it doesn’t sound like the dream job to me. Of course, he does have close ties to Az State. But would that be a lateral move or a true step up?

PennyWisemanShooters never disappoints.

Once again you show your ignorance of several subjects. Hard to believe you live in Canada and purport to know Memphis football insiders. MY NAME IS WISEMAN. DUMB AZZ.

Here is the deal PennyWisemanShooters…

Dante Brown averaged more carries per game; DeAngelo only averaged 10 carries per game. To say that defenses were keying on someone who got the ball 1 out of every 7 plays is idiotic even by your bottom of the barrel standards. This falls into line with the PennyWisemanShooters mantra that Henderson wasn't that good. It kills you that you are openly mocked for saying this, regardless of what your ID of the day is, but you are too dumb to take your losses and drop it.

Not going to listen to your nonsense. You are on ignore and I hope you do the same to me. Maybe not many will quote your inane posts.

Inane? Dante Brown had more carries than DeAngelo; DeAngelo had 10 carries per game, roughly 1 out of every 7 plays, and you claim defenses were all keying on him.

We were "fortunate" that Henderson developed? Isn't that what happens with every good player? Didn't DeAngelo develop to go from rushing for less than 700 yards to become our all time leading rusher?

You cough...cough..."joined" in April but you claim I've shown ignorance on many subjects, even though I've barely posted.

You are (as usual) too dumb to not blow your cover. PennyWisemanShooters busted again.
