Too many....

Sculpting, painting, reading Raymond Chandler novels, watching film noirs, collecting original comic strip art, collecting fedoras & homburgs, collecting big band & pre-WWII 78's, astronomy, teaching the mechanics of passing to high school QB's, collecting and preserving antique Spanish colonial documents and artifacts pertaining to Texas, collecting Texas history textbooks (I have a near complete set going back to the original 1888 adoption), collecting antique maps and globes, barbecuing, and watching North Texas football.

But, I'm probably not as old as you are thinking I am.

I'm just a good ole country boy. Love to hunt (mainly deer/turkey/squirrel/rabbit but also like to travel to hunt in other parts of the country so pretty much anything), fish, ride 4-wheelers, hike, farm/garden, shoot guns, etc.
Aside from you obsession with our stadium size I feel like we could really get along lol.

Dirt track racing. That’s fun to watch but dangerous. I’m tempted to try it.

The cars are pretty safe. I was on a pit crew for 10 years. I still follow the sport - when I have time.

Very cool, so you know your stuff very well from being on a pit crew. That’s gotta be an adrenaline rush. At least when I had the chance to watch it, that’s what it seemed like. That’s pretty fricken cool. Good atmosphere too.

Geez Side Show,

When you go to a football game, do you look like Ralph Kramden dressed in his space man suit with a Conquistador helmet and Blunderbuss reading a novel toting a pottery wheel with a Victrola blaring “Unchained Melody”?

Just messing with you brother. Love your hobbies!

Video games (I have Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Genesis, and everything up to XBONE). I also have a pretty sizable Magic the Gathering collection (EDH and modern), and have a D&D group that has been playing together for over 5 years. I enjoy drag racing and retro modding cars (between my father and I we have a 62 impala, 56 & 68 C10, 67 camaro, and a 71 Nova) I have quite a few guns (mostly ar variants and a few russian guns, mosins, SKS, AKs, and a nice little pistol collection).

Holy crap you still have Atari! & the original Nintindo ? That’s crazy. Do those sell for good money now or not? Like selling games and system to a collector ? I’ve seen refurbished ones go for 200.

**** man, nice car collection too. Do you have modern pistols or old ones? I have a nice collection too but all new with a lot of modifications. I’m obsessed with improving my grip & groupings. I go 5-7 times a week I’d say.

Are you a teacher? If so what grade level? If not disregard. What music do you listen to? I like pretty much everything but I really love 90’s Rock like Alice In Chains, Pearl Jame, etc

yeah, if you have any old games check out their prices on amazon or ebay. The market for them spiked up about 10 years ago and have started to come back down. Certain games are worth a pretty penny. I'm sitting on about a thousand dollars of retro games.

Mostly modern. My oldest pistol is a Colt Model 1991. I have a S&W M&P in 40 and 45 and a S&W 69 revolver in 44 magnum that is one of my favorites to shoot. Newest to my collection is a Palmetto State AK-V. That gun is my new favorite and comes highly recommended if you ever get a chance to, you should. I've only been able to go shooting usually a couple times per year, but this year I've been averaging once a month. My shooting has definitely improved with the practice times. I don't think I can afford 5-7 times per week. How much are you spending in ammo sir?

RE: What are your hobbies?
Up till 10 months ago my hobbies were Western football and basketball, traveling, fishing, MMA, Halloween, inventing/building and going to the Gulf Coast or Atlantic Ocean as often as I can.

Been a Western fan since 1966 at the age of 6 and started sneaking into games at the age 9 with my 11 year old brother and cousin. Yes it was a very different world back then.

Love playing basketball and still go to the park twice a week playing against HS and college age kids

Enjoy going to the gym to spar with my 24 year old son in MMA.

Love to fish and especially saltwater fishing

Since retiring (9 years ago) we love to travel and especially for Western football and basketball. Try to mix in some fishing on each trip.

Love building things been doing that since I was 15 and turned it into a career at 17. Still do it even in retirement

I also love Halloween and building props. Not your everyday props but props that move, jump up and out, scream/talks, advance high end props. If any of you are into Halloween and visit the prop making boards...you probably heard of me. I've designed a few props that are fairly well known.

But my biggest joy is a 10 month old grandson that we have 5 days a week and has replaced a lot on that list.

RE: What are your hobbies?
I used to ride motorcycles as well, so hopefully I can answer your riding question. You may not like the answer... but honestly the fastest way to learn how to ride is to get a beater 250-500 cc on craigslist and start there. You'll outgrow it in 2 weeks to a month depending on how aggressive you are... but learning on a Ducati 1k cc is going to be way more intimidating. The other thing you can try is to go to a motocross spot, it's generally for all skill levels and they will teach you how to push your riding to the edge in a safe environment. You could consider getting a beater for that too so you aren't afraid of dropping a brand new bike.

I stopped riding once I got engaged and a close friend passed away due to an accident. Drivers really suck around here, so it just became too dangerous. I like to think it was my decision, not my eventual wife's :)

Hobbies for me now... boardgames (current favorites in the collection are 7th continent, mechs vs minions, castles of burgundy, dinosaur island, betrayal at house on the hill); used to be really into mircobrews but have since taken a well-deserved break from alcohol so now putting that exploratory energy into different coffees and teas; I play all sports, my favorite is actually a slow-pitch softball team; surfing, bodyboarding, skimboarding; I play league of legends at a somewhat decent level, would like to get into coaching but no idea how; I used to coach flag football for 16u boys, would like to do it again when I have more free time. Raising a 6month old has put a damper on all these things but excited to get her more involved with them as she grows.

Outside of sports stuff, enjoy working out, running, reading, writing, video games (Fortnite and Destiny 2 on X1 right now), and The Office. I also enjoy a good anime, but I’m pretty particular on those.

LOL, thanks. I wear my UNT shirts just like everyone else. And, I never bring distractions to games. I actually get annoyed by people on their phones, or otherwise preoccupied during games. I think it detracts from the atmosphere.

I forgot to add that I also collect authentic North Texas football helmets, like those in my avatar.

Also, I don't throw on a potter's wheel. I create figurative and historical sculptures (see the recent IPF thread). And remember, if Marshall wants to spend another million on another sculpture, I can do the job.

Two things I loved to do, but no longer have enough time for. I had a my own dark room by the time I was 14. When I retire, I plan to get back into chess. I think it is the greatest game ever invented.

I love astronomy too. What kind of scope(s) do you have?

So starting on a Ducati 1098 was a bad idea. That probably why there’s no improvement on my end.
