We're going to have to stop promoting the beach as a recruiting strategy. Did you know, shark attacks happen every year? DO THE COACHES WANT THEIR PLAYERS TO GET EATEN BY SHARKS???

Let's build that IPF - and get a wave pool next to it.

Until we can provide life guards and proper swimming classes for all athletes, a wave pool is a no go. Way too risky.

As for classes, midterms and finals can lead to stress. Stress can lead to sleep deprivation, depression and arrhythmic events. Given that, there should be no tests for student athletes.

Finally and most importantly, the lack of safety surrounding bus and plane travel provides too big a risk to even consider either as an option. Until teleportation is invented and proven safe, we should only play home games.

I vote for a ban for walking on sidewalks around campus, trip hazards everywhere. 07-coffee3

Seriously! There is like a 3in tube pipe sticking out of the sidewalk outside of The Edge where the old HRT bus stop sign was and the missing bricks around the campus bookstore! It's not safe for our students! Only online classes are safe! 05-stirthepot

ODU picked 6th in the East. Consistent with our low level recruiting rankings for the last 5 years.

Pushing all that weight leaning forward and unbalanced like that might pull a muscle. Especially with the doors open letting all that cool air out.

I get it - heat is a concern and heat stroke is a very real concern. You're assuming our coaches are not keeping an eye on the kids and medical staff isn't either. Like - you're assuming our coaches want the kids to die. Which is an absurd assertion and you can understand why people react to your comment the way they do right?

You're being absurd. Please don't put words in my mouth. The coach was being negligent.

I have the utmost respect for our players, that's why I took this stance.

Only in extreme heat do I have a problem with this.

Carrying someone on your back up a flight of steps isn't the same as pushing a sled.

They're doing strength not cardio. They are also covered frorm the suns rays.

Coach Galt was not being negligent. These guys are used to these workouts. Word on the street is that the team loves him and loves the new culture he is bringing to the weight room. I can't imagine that there was not a trainer with them on their run (probably trailing behind in a golf cart).

Yet that awful recruiting had THE highest NFL draft ranking of all CUSA schools.

That alone will help down stream.

Consider changing your name to Debbie Downer. Can't remember the last post you made that had even a remotely positive slant.

Keep defending the poor recruiting and our poor on the field performances. I guess you will be happy with a 2 win season.

I agree. He was not being negligent at all. I get that it was warm, but if a coach is too afraid to put the kids through a workout like that, he's not going to be a coach for very long. He'll get fired (along with the rest of the coaching staff) for having a soft team that gets beaten up and down the field every week.

At least folks won't be cranky from sitting with knees in their backs for 3+ hours.

If we don't get off to any better start than we did last year, we may as well put cactuses in their backs in terms of crankiness.

What's your definition of a good start? Two P5s on the road in the first 3 games almost guarantees a bad one.

You have done nothing for 15 years except ***** about recruiting. Always. Always, over at the CAABOzone you bitched about Blaine's recruiting from day 1. Yet he turned that program around with what 5 NCAA appearances. Despite all the '$hitty' recruiting that you bitched about. Then years back you berated BT's staff on one Greek kid we didn't get that went to GW and ended up being a frickin nobody. Or the other Greek kid we didn't get who went to Clemson, ended up being a nobody. Neither of which could hold the jocks of the kids we did have up front, Loughton, Dahi, Lee, Hassell.....

You've don't nothing but ***** about football recruiting. When it has never been about the recruiting as much as piss poor coaching. We've had a series of defensive coaches who couldn't do crap with schemes or teaching.

And you kept complaining on multiple posts about we lost all those players last year and we're not getting commitments. Completely losing track that the 2019 scholarships were all signed in February. Dohhhhh.

And please find ONE single post where I've defended recruiting. Never have. All I said was you've done nothing but ***** about it.

We'd better beat the tar out of Norfolk State, and then beat either WKY or ECU (if not both). Assuming that we don't upset another ACC team, 1-4 going to Marshall and UAB is going to make people cranky, including myself.

We've had so much turnover in coaching and players that I would prepare to be cranky. And if they surprise, you'll just be happy.

Fully agree. Anything can happen in game 1, but we should win. I think people can accept (and expect) losses to the ACC teams, though a good showing and being competitive would be nice. At that point we MUST beat either ECU or WKU (preferably both) to keep the fan base engaged and hope alive. ECU should be a sellout. Whether the stadium is full or sparse this year depends largely on a victory in that game IMO. I also think it will take 5 or more victories to keep the current HC.

Good talk! I'm ready for football to start. Do we know if they will hold the intrasquad scrimmage this year with trying to get the stadium finished on time?
