Nope, they will blame Trump for distracting them... because of course, he called them out first, right?

Three people out of 23 have spoken out. I wont throw the whole team under the bus. I'll still root for then because they are playing the frogs.

I wonder if the 3 that have spoke out have thought if the other 20 would like to go to the White House.

I used to like Rapinoe a lot as a player. I thought she was the glue that held the team together. There was a game, looking back I think it must have been the finals of the 2011 World Cup against Japan, where she assisted on a goal to put the US ahead and was then pulled late in the game, after which the US gave up the equalizer and then lost in PKs. I thought the turning point was when she came off.

And I am generally very much a supporter of LGBT rights. I have several lesbian friends who love her. But I can't go along with this latest stuff. You're representing your country, that is an honor, save the griping for another time. The photo is spot on to me.

I'm not ready to say, "Allez les bless," they're still the US national team. But I think karma might just catch up with them.

Why do you guys hate the Constitution? 03-wink

I guess you'd rather live in a country where you're forced to put you hand on your heart, stand at attention, and sign the country's anthem?

How communist/socialist/marxist/fascist of you. 03-lol

Even Pelosi said she doesn't criticize the POTUS when overseas. Take it for what it's worth.

That's about where I'm at. I do hope if we win, one of the feminine players that we would want representing us as an American woman, like Alex Morgan, gets the winning goal.

You couldn't be any more wrong here.

Nobody cares if she just stands there and listens to the music. That's what the MAJORITY of sports players do across the country in various sports. I don't care if she puts her hand over her heart or not. I don't care if she sings or not.

But when she impolitely, and rather crassly fires shots at the president with the crudest of language, AS she has the privilege of wearing a sports uniform for her country... nah. I'm not getting behind that.

Also, for me... I don't mind at all if France wins because of the way the USWNT has allowed her to do speak in such candor without punishment while removing a member of the team because of her beliefs regarding the wearing of a certain uniform.

Nah. I don't support them, and I have no qualms about it. It doesn't lessen my patriotism to not support a sports team, but it would lessen my patriotism if I support a player who openly vilifies and speaks with disrespect towards the U.S. President, especially while overseas.

I forgot about the uniform issue, another reason to dislike this team.

Yep. Selective outrage and selective placement of values -- not to mention the blatant hypocrisy.

Tomorrows match numbers will probably be high, but after that who knows? Maybe the final if the US is playing.

I won't play the same game.

They are the national team. I support them as our national team. Those who choose this venue where they represent ALL OF US to decide to protest a duly elected President are incredibly misguided. They don't represent Trump, they represent ME.

If they want to bypass a WH visit after they win it all in protest, fine by me. That's them sacrificing something for their cause. This isn't them sacrificing anything, except perhaps to divide our country when the whole reason we HAVE a national team is to unite us.

Stupid

How 'bout she declines to play and lets someone else take her place or have us play down a man or gives up a paycheck or whatever in protest? Something where she doesn't gain public (especially her preferred public) attention for the gesture that is supposedly 'for others'.

It's really pretty simple on a few fronts:
1. You play for a team. Anything you do that reflects only upon yourself, besides good play, should merit dismissal from the team.

2. The team represents the nation. Anything you do that reflects poorly upon the nation should merit dismissal from the team.

3. If you feel a stronger allegiance to a cause than you do to the nation then organize and play on a team that celebrates that cause.

All this pearl clutching will accomplish is to give her protest more cache. Y'all are doing the leg work for her. At the end of the day... who cares what people do during the anthem? And if you do REALLY REALLY care... maybe find a worthier cause to get upset over? There's countless worthier issues to be up in arms over.

The minute any of us put our personal agenda higher than the organization that sponsors, or pays us, the allegiance is not there. That's true for business, or the nation. The job of an athlete playing on a national team is to do their best, and represent their nation well. Nothing else.

Its the spectacle that is made of all of this. It actually doesn't bother me about what Kapernik did either. They have the right to do this which is what makes the USA as great as it is.

Where it does bother me however, is when the hypocrisy starts. F*ck you but I will gladly take your money.... I don't support you, but I will damn well sure let you support and take care of me. That is where these people run off the rails with most rational thinking Americans.

It is a very selfish and self serving position to take..... No different than too many of these millenials that want everything handed to them but don't really want to contribute anything to earn it.
