I was saying you and Cincy and Houston would leave next go around. Then get left with ecu, Tulane, USF.

The question is will the Big 12 add Houston if Baylor, Texas Tech & TCU don't leave?
I can see them skipping them.

The additions in my opinion will be Cincinnati, Memphis, UCF, BYU, USF and maybe even a MWC team like Boise, Utah State or Colorado State over Houston.

What! The AAC isn't expanding? You mean all of this AAC bootlicking by the Marshall and USM fans was for nothing? Some of these guys were ready to do whatever it takes!

For us both Temple and ECU are closer than Charlotte. The problem with a raided AAC is the same as it was with CUSA: orphaned teams in the East and West and the money will quickly dry up.

When they lose Houston, UCF, Cincy, or Memphis, ESPN will cut that TV contract to ribbons.

Hope I live to see it.

No Conference is adding any of those schools period. Why dilute your brand and your cash flow?

The fact that the AAC isn't panicking over this tells us something. The reality is that they don't have to worry about losing any AAC members to a P5.

RE: Cincy newspaper: AAC unlikely to replace UConn
The AAC choosing to not add a school right away from CUSA is bad news for candidates like UAB/ODU and pretty good news for schools like USM/Marshall. Here's why:

If they were to add a school right now they'd be stupid not to add UAB (super hot football program right now, Bham market, nice facilities, super solid basketball program) or ODU (market, fan support, facility investment, super solid basketball program).

If you're USM or Marshall, the longer the AAC waits to add a program (assuming they add one from CUSA) the more time/opportunity it gives them to improve their football/basketball resume be/c if they get invited it's not going to be because of market. Both schools already have pretty solid brands in the college football world and both have a lot of history with many of the current AAC schools. They'll have to make up for their lack of market with football/basketball successes. I can't speak for Marshall's outlook, but I know that for the first time in a long time there's a lot of stability at USM (from President->AD->FB/BB HC's...and everything is trending up. We've got an AD who's worked at USM before and knows us, CUSA, and Mississippi/the south like the back of his hand. Our fb coach is a USM guy who's making the right hiring decisions to address the team's needs. Our basketball coach played at USM and also knows our program like the back of his hand. We just need a little more fan investment but I think you'll see that this fall because USM football is going to surprise a lot of folks. As will basketball, especially since we no longer have any more sanctions. We've improved the W column every year for the past 4/5 years. Over the past 2 years while on sanctions we've beaten plenty of conference opponents (Charlotte, ODU, MTSU, UAB, Marshall to name a few) that spend triple on their bball programs compared to what USM spends on it's.

What is a brand? If you already have it those picking CUSA TV games would pick the "brand" to be on TV more often? Other words S. Miss football should be controlling the CUSA TV games...even if they are limited. Would you agree with that?

If you go back and read this board EVERY preseason S. Miss is going to surprise people. At some point the law of averages will take place.

I think the opposite. Granted if they want the best brand there's little we can do about that unless we get an access bowl or an Elite Eight run and still those things only stay in the publics mind for a short while unless you follow it up. But our other shortfalls are proven success and football facilities. We'll continue to make improvements to the stadium. And we'll have at least a chance to improve our FB program and rise to the top of the conference. If Wilder falls short this year he's got to go, no more dicking around. Our market's not going anywhere, our fan support will either hold steady or grow depending on performance and our budget will continue to grow. It's going to be easier for us to become good at football than you to grow your budget in just a few years ans certainly easier than growing your market.

If nothing else hopefully the arms race to improve will improve CUSA as well.

Well, Southern Miss does have FIVE linear TV games this Fall. That's tied for the most in CUSA (along w/ LT, Rice, and FAU). Also, not sure about theirs but FWIW ours are all on Saturdays too:
@ Mississippi State ESPNU
@ Alabama SECN
@ La Tech NFL Network
vs. UAB NFL Network
@ FAU NFL Network

Two of those are not CUSA controlled games. Anyone that plays a sec team will be on TV

But let me give you the answer to the total amount of times S. Miss was choose for a tier 1 CUSA TV game. Between the years 2014-2018....7 games and 2 of those were vs a SEC school. Our Tier 1 usually picks game vs P5

That would be less than half of Marshall and about a 1/3 of Western's "cusa tv games"

Tier 1 schmear 1. The only "tier" games I care about (and I'm sure most in the CFB world would agree) are the ones that you can actually watch on a television set and not have to be streamed through the whataburger app.

Here's everyone's linear tv schedule this fall:

The AAC's decision to not expand right now, is only good news for programs that will... win games, increase their attendance, grow their market share (if they have a market), build facilities, develop revenue streams, increase their investment in coaches and staffs, and make headlines.

I'm sure the AAC will be watching to see which program is going to shine and get that 12th spot. It may take a year or even a few years, but one program will ultimately get that spot.

UAB - 4
@ Akron CBS Sports
vs. South Alabama NFL Network
@ Tennesse NFL Network
@ Southern Miss NFL Network

North Texas - 3
@ Cal PAC12 Network (more than likely)
vs. UTEP NFL Network
@ Rice NFL Network

Southern Miss - 5
@ Mississippi State ESPNU
@ Alabama SECN (more than likely or ESPNU)
@ La Tech NFL Network
vs. UAB NFL Network
@ FAU NFL Network

La Tech - 5
@ Texas Longhorn Network
vs Grambling NFL Network
vs. FIU CBS Sports Network
vs. Southern Miss NFL Network
@ Marshall CBS Sports

UTSA - 3
@ Baylor FSN
vs Army NFL Network
@ TAMU SECN (more than likely or ESPNU)

UTEP - 2
@ Texas Tech FSN
@ UNT NFL Network

Rice - 5
@ Army CBS Sports Network
vs. Wake Forest ACCN (more than likely)
vs. Texas CBS Sports Network
vs. Baylor CBS Sports Network
vs. North Texas NFL Network

MTSU - 3
@ Michigan BTN
@ Iowa ESPN/2/U
vs FIU NFL Network

Marshall - 4
@ Boise State ESPN
@ FAU CBS Sports Network
vs. La Tech CBS Sports Network
vs. FIU CBS Sports Network

FIU - 4
@ La Tech CBS Sports Network
@ MTSU NFL Network
vs. Miami CBS Sports Network
@ Marshall CBS Sports Network

Charlotte - 2
@ Clemson ACCN (more than likely)
vs. FAU NFL Network

FAU - 5
@ Ohio State
vs. UCF CBS Sports Network
@ Charlotte NFL Network
vs. Marshall CBS Sports Network
vs. Southern Miss NFL Network

ODU - 2
@ Va Tech ESPNU
@ Virginia ACCN (more than likeley)

WKU - 1
@ Arkansas SECN (more than likely)

That's what I said...TV= tier 1

S. Miss had 7 games shown on TV, controlled by CUSA TV partners from 2014-2018. Western had 21 not counting 5 others on FSN which is TV but I believe Tier 2

That's not counting games controlled by other conferences like the Bama or Miss game S. Miss is playing. BTW the NFL Network picked games that wasn't already picked by Stadium, CBSsn and even facebook, most likely even espn+

Look I dont blame you for only wanting to look at this coming season....7 TV games vs 25 for Western. As I said you would think if someone already had a national brand the CUSA TV Partners would be falling all over their self to show the game of the school with a "brand".

That just isnt the facts
