Even at a straight trade they are looking at 5.5m+ for football from media and then the added cfp money so 7-9m a year depending. Then what ever the WCC deal brings in.
The question is does that cover buy outs etc to make it happen? I'm not sure it will.
Yeah, I have no idea about that. What did Navy do with their schedules? Seems like the main Navy contributor mentioned pushing at least one series back. I suppose where there’s a will, there’s a way...just not sure a strong enough will is there.
Yeah. I’d be surprised if they’ve completely hamstrung themselves from ever joining a conference.

My question is, buy-outs from what? We would only want their football, and their football is not in a conference. What if we just told them we will give you half of Uconn's buy-out of the AAC (+/- $5M) to join us?
The games they already have scheduled.

We need 8 games from them and they have contracts to fulfill. Keeping just the p5 games out of conference will help a lot, waiting till 2022 will help a lot, you're still looking at a lot of cash and getting some games moved to make it work. It will require changing at least three p5 games to other years or buying them out. Also like seven g5 games and an fcs game and that's if you wait till 2022. Before then isn't really possible, although we might be able squeeze a few games to get it started. A whole conference schedule though just isn't possible till 2022 at the earliest with a lot of stuff moved and money spent.

Yeah---realistically, the earliest they could be here is 2023 or 2024--unless they got some help from ESPN.

2022 is doable
11 games scheduled
easy cancellations: ecu, dixie, liberty, wyoming
push utah state back a few years (or buy out that 1 year)
6games
remove baylor because of the scandals
5games
losing the last to get to 4 will be tricky....if boise also joins with byu its a done
moving stanford to 2026 is the simple solution
also noting byu has games with usf and houston in 2020/21..we could do them a favor..cancel it and move some of their other contracts to take their stops
uconn next year..then byu's last 2 seasons indy...then they join for the 2022 season

A waiver is probably 50/50 for 2020 beyond that????
So which option is the AAC going do without the waiver? 6/5 divisional round robins or 10 game round robin without divisions?
6/5
It's a pain but it also means we don't have to get permission for anything and keep the CF. Definitely not ideal. I think we see people move to a divisionless set up with a required set rotating schedule probably so that every team plays every other conference team in a certian number of years (4-6 maybe). That way they get some flexibility back but you can't just load up the schedule for one or two teams.
Do you think they'll drop 2 teams to 7 games or up to 9? I could see the drop to 7 and a scheduling agreement between the conference and UConn for 2, 4, or 6 years. But, honestly, the waiver to keep everyone at 8 conference games seems most likely. It is not as if the AAC can wave a wand to make a 12th team appear... what if there are no "institutional fits" or the logistics of exit fees/buyouts are a financial drain? Adding a 12th team would be a "hardship" or at least a diificulty.

This all assumes that they didn't write anything into their current scheduling agreements that would give them an out if they join a conference. Not having, at least, an escalating cancellation clause based on the amount of notice would be pretty short-sighted.

My understanding is that all their contracts came with an lower buy out/no buy out if they were invited to a p5 conference. My assumption is that they included some escalating cancellation fees for both sides in it. Even so it's just a lot of work and still a lot of money in a best case scenario. I don't know if the money numbers will work. It also depends on BYU wanting in.

Yikes. I hadn't thought of all those indi games. You are right. BUT, That's what ADs are for, right?
Latest McMurphy article: BYU, Army, or stay at 11 most likely.
Read a couple of SLC editorials, they are all for BYU joining the AAC as football only. This might actually happen, AAC fans be careful what you wish for.

Ehhh---Whats the worst that can happen? I believe UConn is the 14th team to leave the conference since UH accepted its Big East invitation in late 2011. Thats literally equal to an entire ACC conference of schools leaving in in just 8 years. Thirteen of the defections occurred in a short 6 month window that nearly ended the league--that was an insane period for the AAC.

You will see, lots of drama, they also are the dirtiest team in the game.

Navy's OL would like a word with you.
Some of us have been in a league with them before, most have recent past. We know what we're getting. It will be a pain from time to time, but we will only have them for football so our exposure will be limited.
