So Brady was this awful guy that was losing "future professional players" and "core guys" but still managed to win 20+ games per year (yes I know, not every season). How bad of a coach is Rowe if he's retaining all of this "talent" but can't even have a .500 season with two free victories against D3 schools?

quotes arent needed - Charles Cooke is bouncing between the D league and the heat roster. He is a legitimate professional talent. Andre nation was arguably more talented but Brady couldnt manage the kid.

Quotes are appropriate when referencing specific words used. My point stands, Brady lost all of these guys but somehow still won. People are happy with player retention with Rowe but we suck. I'll take the former over the latter.

Cool, I didn't dispute whether or not your "point stands" or that "Brady" "won" some "games" "."

am i missing something or is there not one football player on this list? are they not eligible ( not enough credits?) or did we really not have 1 out of 80+ players make the honor role? the criteria is a 3.0!!! c'mon, we are not talking crazy results. if so, that is pretty disappointing and have to question MH's commitment to these guys.

1. So Brady was this awful guy that was losing "future professional players" and "core guys" but still managed to win 20+ games per year (yes I know, not every season).
2. How bad of a coach is Rowe if he's retaining all of this "talent" but can't even have a .500 season with two free victories against D3 schools?

1. Yes, he was. In addition to his inability to connect with players, he also had some pretty wild swings in the ol' W-L department, which showed he had good teams, but couldn't build the program into a consistent winner. He had some 20 win seasons, but it always felt empty, if that makes sense.

2. Yes, he's bad at coaching. I'm hoping our "talent" in a "depleted" CAA can overcome the coaching shortfalls in "19-20." Otherwise, he's "gotta" go.

Really hoping it's the former, and not the latter, but don't know enough about the minimum qualifications to hazard a guess.

It's unclear because we had some FB student-athletes who made the President's (4.0 GPA) and Dean's (3.5-3.99 GPA) lists... https://jmusports.com/news/2019/4/10/bas...lists.aspx

I'd think to make those lists you have to be a full-time student in terms of credit load, yes? Strange indeed.

The announcement appears to technically be awarded by the conference rather than the school. Isn't CAA Football technically a different conference than the CAA? Maybe the lack of football players just has something to do with that?

Maybe as a parent of a student athlete you'd have more interest in how the coach interacted with you child. Whether he had integrity and was honest in recruiting your child.

Losing Jones thins out an already thin group of forewords. It's no secret that Rowe loves guards and his recruiting of big men has been poor. At least Jones provided some depth there. I don't see how letting Jones walk to sign yet another guard helps the team.

Not sure this is accurate. I don’t think Rowe pet Jones walk. I think he liked Jones and had he stayed a guard would have been asked to play as a walk on (Urbach or Pinkard). Bigs are in shorter supply and take longer to develop. Even those with good size and ability (see Devon Phillips) you cant measure their desire. I think Wilson has proven himself to be a good big and Fowler and Flowers have potential but I agree that they could probably use some more depth here behind Jacobs. I just don’t think there are a ton of sure immediate contributors at 4 and 5 at the mid major level.

speculation, but Rowe probably levelled with him about where he was and his expected playing time. We will be playing 2 bigs and he looks to be behind

Wilson, Jacobs, xmas, Wooden, Fowler, Flowers - of course, 4 of these guys we have never seen.

simple as looking where he can play more.

I think the composition of the team is fine. The game is played by guards more so than ever and as 97 says bigs at the mid major level take longer to develop if at all. Mid major basketball is all about player development, of course.

Here's what the team looks like today assuming Urbach and Jones leave with the class in parentheses (6 guards and 6 forwards):

1 - Parker (2), Harvey (1)
2 - Lewis (3), Richey (1), Pinkard (4)
3 - Banks (3), Christmas (1), Flowers (1)
4 - Jacobs (3), Wooden (1)
5 - Wilson (3), Fowler (1)

Just a general question about the transfer portal, but is that only available to coaches/teams, or is it possible for fans to look and see who is in there? If not fans, can media members access the portal?
