196,000 Jobs Added In March. 3.8% Unemployment. Wages Up 3.2% For Year
Can't wait for the board leftists to try and bash this report today. They wallow in their hatred of our President and his economy just keeps winning.
Quote:Job gains were fairly broad based.
Health care led with 49,000 new workers, professional and technical services added 34,000 and food and drinking establishments contributed 27,000. Construction rose by 16,000 but manufacturing saw 6,000 jobs lost.
The numbers came a month after February’s jaw-dropping gain of just 20,000, which was revised up to 33,000 in the March report. January’s big increase of 311,000 also got pushed up a nudge to 312,000, bringing the average gain over the past three months to 180,000. That’s still solid though below the 233,000 average monthly gain for all of 2018.
Household survey data showed there were 201,000 fewer people counted as employed, but that came with a contraction of the labor force by 224,000. Those counted as not in the labor force increased by 369,000 to 95.6 million. The labor force participation rate declined to 63%, down 0.2 percentage points to its lowest level since November.

Swag should check out the graph here, set to 10 years, to see how that was a really stupid question to ask. It compars the GDP to the interest rates. Right now, Trump is killing it over Obama, even though Obama had flatlined interest rates.

Out of curiosity, I looked at Google News. Top headlines:
1. Trump's tax returns
2. Boeing 737
3. Brian Rini lost boy
4. Britain Brexit
5. ICE nominee pulled
6. President Trump reelection poll
7. Murder-suicide of 8
8. Jobs growth
9. Sailor shooting female sailor in VA
10. Trump accuses Dems of inventing coverup
Don't think there is any coincidence that it gets buried down at #8.

Your wages arent up 3.2% then to the people you employ?
My wages aren't up at all.
The base pay of no one that I know has gone up.
Has anyone here seen their wage rise by anywhere close to 3.2%?
My wife will get a merit raise this year...and the top it can be is 3%. Decent. But it'll probably be somewhere nearer to 2.5%.
If here is 2.5 and mine is 0, our wages rose 1.25%, not even close to the average.

You do realize that, in the day and age of where there is a severe labor shortage, the fact that you havent received a raise under Trump is more indicative that the company you work for is ok with you leaving and them having to go through the pain of finding a new employee in this market, rather than giving you more money to stay on?

Well, it is obvious you are a Democrat. Waiting on others to give your a raise instead of pulling up your britches like a big boy and go find a better paying job. The labor market it tight right now and those that can offer a needed skill are doing very well.

Are anyone's in here?
Mine? No, remember I retired. The skillset I now have can be had from anyone smart enough to run a POS system and schmooze with the customers (not strictly a requirement) so I'm not a good example.
Rather than saying the figures are wrong why not drill into them and see why you may be an outlier? Some have offered up some reasonable explanations.

Who said I haven't looked?
My skill is extremely marketable. However, making a change after six and a half years somewhere is a big gamble. I make very good money so I'm not complaining.
You didn't address the question though. That's telling.
Has anyone on this board seen their wages rise 3.2%?
Beuhler?
If the average is that hardly anyone's wages have risen, much less by 3.2%, then where does that number come from?
RE: 196,000 Jobs Added In March. 3.8% Unemployment. Wages Up 3.2% For Year
Reading comp is not a strong suit amongst the members of this board in general.
Where did I say the number is wrong? Notice I didn't. I simply stated mine haven't changed, then asked for anyone (still waiting) to give me an example where theirs DID. No one has yet.
I am trying to understand where they arrived at that number. If several people on here were to tell me that their wages rose by anything even close to that I'd be more inclined to believe it. My own experience is that wages are still relatively flat.
