RE: The Ladies...
We attended our first UC women's game in years Saturday for Senior Day. The coaching change has yielded an amazing turnaround season and they capped it Saturday by beating USF. It's a very entertaining game day experience. We walked up and purchased "club section" tickets for $7 apiece and sat center court, third row. I highly recommend it for young families--you get a big time college game experience for kids--food, pep band, cheerleaders, photos with the mascot, all at a bargain price.
I'm a big believer that UC must continue to win and build athletic excellence--not just in football and men's basketball but across the board. I believe that will be yet another factor in elevating UC's rising profile when conference realignment begins again.

I agree.
I'm going to commit to buying tickets to women's sporting events. Last time I checked, season tickets are ridiculously inexpensive.

Like I've said about UC baseball, everyone who can should do this. It's basically another way to donate to the university.

And it isn't much...$500/year will get you tickets to just about every Olympic sport I believe.
Also, just to note, barring a catastrophe in New Orleans, the women will hit 20 wins for the first time since 2002-03. It is remarkable what has been done this year, and I see good things in the future with our recruiting and the vast majority of our contributors coming back. Losing Nikira Goings (3rd leading scorer) will be interesting, but bringing back Miller and Thomas along with the group coming in and Sifa getting an expanded role...next year could be even better.

Do we have to worry about P5 programs trying to steal our women's basketball coach?

Intuitively, I'd say yes, absolutely, we should be concerned. UC, with top 25 football and men's basketball results this year, is punching way above our weight class again with great ROI.
P5 money enables those schools to buy coaching talent at any level. Olympic sports are no exception.

Eh...there really isn't a ton of money thrown at WBB outside of the top 10-15 programs, and she's not at that level yet. I think we're safe for a few years at least.

I will say this. For kids (at least the younger ones), Women's games might be a better experience and more fun for them. Also you get more if a chance to stretch your legs and walk around, and of course get seats really close to the bench, court, mascot, cheerleaders, etc.. I have been to UC, NKU, and XU womens games and have had similar experinces.

I've done both. Both are great, but you gotta plan a bit more with the men's games.
I took my 5 year old girl to an Illinois State women's home game this year. Last year I took her to the UC-Memphis men's game at NKU.
She loved the UC men's game, but I think that's because we sat in the very top row. We had concrete seatbacks, and it was quieter. Then after the game we went down on the court. And of course the UC cheerleaders fawned over a 4 year old in a UC cheerleader outfit - that was the highlight of the day for her.
She also loved the ISU women's game. We sat closer so she could actually see the game and figure out what was going on (it was a tight game that went down to the wire). But although she liked the basketball, that wasn't the highlight for her. I think she just enjoyed it more as a family outing where she got hot dogs from the concession stand.

UC Women finish the season in third place (20-9, 12,4). Not too shabby for a first year coach.
Congratulation Ladies and Michelle Clark-Heard! Good luck in the AAC Tournament!

They've been fun to follow and entertaining to watch this year when i've had the chance Maybe it's just cause they win, maybe it's cause they score, idk..but they play really well together. Everybody seems to know their roll. I could be down with putting two teams in the tournament every year.

Woman play Memphis tonight on ESPN 3. I’m calling it right now. It will be UC and UCONN battleing for the AAC tournament championship.
Below is the updated bracket.

UCF won in their only other meeting this season, 56-55 in Orlando...so it should be a solid game.

Does getting to the finals earn them a ticket to the dance?

Yeah, I think they're pretty squarely in the NIT. They have some downright terrible losses on their resume this year, if any of them wouldve gone the other way, I think they're in, but as of right now their RPI and SOS arent enough IMO.

I wonder how UCONN feels about having to play in the AAC. Obviously womens bball isnt what moves the needle to get them in a different conference. But have they ever even lost an AAC game? It must get boring after a while.
