Will we have the longest winning streak in the nation if we win all our games next week?

Good question! But not likely.

Oregon extended to 15 on the road Friday with a convincing win at Cal and is up big at halftime this afternoon at Stanford, so that’ll likely go to 16.

Then next Friday they host their travel partner Oregon State who (despite a nice 17-4 record) LOST Friday at Stanford and is down by a bucket at halftime at Cal right now.

Next Sunday they play AT OSU so maybe that’s an opportunity...

However I’m glad you asked because (if I have my math right) we NOW have the 2nd longest win streak in the nation at 13! (Was third longest entering this week)

Baylor and Missouri State had been ahead of us by one. But both only played one game this week!! So we caught them both. Haha!

Lamar won two games so we’re still tied with them. Mississippi State only played one game, so we’re now one ahead of them!

Check this week’s WBB press release when it comes out, but looks like nation’s longest winning streak is now:
1-Oregon 15 (soon to be 16)
T2- RICE, Baylor, MoSt, Lamar 13

Lamar lost last night at SFA. Scratch them off the list.

Thanks for catching that... double-checked and fixed in my latest list.

Wow-- a 40 point loss at home. I'm guessing Stanford drops precipitously in the polls after that one. I wonder if one or two of the Cardinal players missed the game. I suppose I can check with my brother, who was no doubt in attendance. Geez.

I don’t know which two top players you are referring to, but considering two of their players combined for almost 30 shots, I’d say both were probably playing (but either ice cold or defended effectively)

A.Smith 3-14
M.Dotson 4-13

STANFORD, Calif. (AP)-- Sabrina Ionescu had 27 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, and No. 3 Oregon ran its NCAA-best winning streak to 16 games by running away from 11th-ranked Stanford 88-48 on Sunday to snap a 29-game losing streak at Maples Pavilion.

Article later says Smith had previously been averaging 21 a game.

Stanford has had some injuries but none lately. They lost a starting 6-3 post player in January. They had something like a 22-game home win streak snapped today.

Honestly there aren't any dominant women's basketball teams this year. It's pretty wide open and a number of teams (Oregon, Baylor, Mississippi State, Louisville, Notre Dame and UConn) all have pretty even chances of winning the NCAA title I'd say.

With six dominant teams I’d hesitate to hope for a 10-seed and instead be delighted with the 11- or 12- we’d be more likely to be given based on our RPI, anyway. That’s a much cleaner path to the sweet sixteen. On the other hand... I would love to see what the Owls could do against one of those top six teams. Though I’d be perfectly willing to wait patiently until the sweet sixteen to see that matchup 03-wink

Ok i like that even better!!!

I have no doubt we’re among the country’s 24 best teams and are worthy of a 6 seed. Would or could the committee see it that way too?

Erica is CUSA co-player of the week with Kierra Anthony, Louisiana Tech.

Quote:For the second week in a row, Ogwumike has earned Player of the Week honors. The junior averaged 21.5 points on 59.3 percent shooting to go along with 11.5 rebounds in two road wins for the Owls against Marshall and WKU. She recorded back-to-back double-doubles and now leads the conference with 13 on the season. In addition, the Cypress, Texas, native dished out five total assists and recorded two blocks across both double-digit victories. Rice is now 20-3 this season and is tied for the nation’s second-longest win streak.
