Shutdown??? What Shutdown???
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/01/30/private-...ErmUBIucx0
Quote:Companies added 213,000 jobs this month, the ADP and Moody’s Analytics data show. Economists polled by Refinitiv expected payrolls to grow by 178,000.
The strong jobs growth comes even after the longest U.S. government shutdown in history.
“The job market weathered the government shutdown well. Despite the severe disruptions, businesses continued to add aggressively to their payrolls,” says Mark Zandi of Moody’s Analytics.

RE: Shutdown??? What Shutdown???
So now you believe Moody's?
Anyway, according to the CBO, the shutdown cost the economy twice as much as what trump could have gotten for border security had he decided to abandon his ridiculous and unneeded wall demand.

So in other words, Democrat refusal to present a CR that the president would sign cost the economy nearly twice what the president was asking for.

Maybe, but I tend to think those numbers are the government trying to justify it's cost.

Sorry guys...trump shut down the government. He even told you he did, why he did, and that he'd be happy to take the credit for it.

The President was giving the Demons an out by saying that, but they didn't care, it's the Presidents idea so they wouldn't budge anyway. At least with all these jobs added the people who didn't get a paycheck can always leave the government teat and go rogue into the marketplace.

Me too. I hope it's just as long and he initiates a RIF of "non-essential" personnel. My suggestion is to start with anyone with the title "deputy assistant undersecretary" and go from there.

This is just complete and utter ignorance. Dude, he stopped paying a branch of our military for the first time in our history. He also didn't pay air traffic controllers and TSA agents, yet they continued to work.
You do know that if he does it again and doesn't pay them, that they more than likely won't work next time...virtually shutting down US air travel. And more than a few days of no air travel in the USA will be catastrophic to the economy.
Yeah...go for it trump...give away the senate in 2020 like you did the house in 2018.
You guys crack me up...

Or if the Dems had appropriated funds for few miles of border wall than they voted for in 2013.

Do you actually have any empirical proof or personal experiences that backs your repeated claim a physical barrier doesn't work? Check out places Like San Diego and Arizona sectors. Yuma in particular.
Let us know what you find out?
What do you suggest as "border security", without a physical barrier?

Yup. And once he did he put additional offers on the table, tried to negotiate in good faith, wasn't jetting off to lobbyist paid junkets on the beaches of Rico, stayed in DC the entire time and wasn't looking to go score a photo-op going to visit our armed forces that despise her.
So, yea, he did all those things and even said early on "Ok, let's reopen Gov't, will you discuss funding then"?
Fransicko Nan said "No".
Course Schmucky is just a first class lying hypocrite on all this, there's this thing called video tape and the Utube I guess he hasn't heard of.

RE: Shutdown??? What Shutdown???
You guys heard/read the speech by McCarthy on the House Floor yesterday?
Honestly if i didn't know better, I'd say McCarthy had been held back by Paul Ryan in previous votes/discussions... (yeah, get mad at me if you want Libertarians, for putting a possible asterisk by his name)
Quote:After the President signed a three-week continuing resolution the Speaker gloated with a Presidential-style enrollment ceremony. Democrats marveled at her exercise of raw political motivation. And many in the media responded like they were beat reporters for their hometown team. This all sounds like a historic moment! What exactly was everyone celebrating? Nothing.
They were celebrating achieving nothing. They were celebrating a status quo that suits their political interests and personal pursuits of self-righteousness. A status quo that causes pain and suffering for Americans across this country.

During the "shutdown" I noticed that the productive people of the country were working and providing tax monies to the bleating unproductive.

I heard all of these scary threats before the recent shutdown. Then the government was supposedly shut down for over a month. What I noticed during that time was that I was totally unaffected by this supposed shutdown. Furthermore, I didn't encounter anyone in my day to day life who was affected in the slightest. Had it not been for catching up on the news when I got off work every day I would not have even known there was a government shutdown. If all those people can be removed from government payrolls for a month and nobody notices, then perhaps they can be removed permanently.
I hope he does it again. I hope it lasts longer this time. I wish he hadn't caved. I think it should still be shut down.
I'm all for shrinking the government whether it be one month at a time or permanently.

And you likely weren't effected because folks worked for free. You honestly think that could have gone on much longer?
Unpaid military (Coast Guard) unpaid TSA agents and Air Traffic Controllers, etc. Eventually, it will effect you.
