Me too. I hope it's just as long and he initiates a RIF of "non-essential" personnel. My suggestion is to start with anyone with the title "deputy assistant undersecretary" and go from there.

This is just complete and utter ignorance. Dude, he stopped paying a branch of our military for the first time in our history. He also didn't pay air traffic controllers and TSA agents, yet they continued to work.

You do know that if he does it again and doesn't pay them, that they more than likely won't work next time...virtually shutting down US air travel. And more than a few days of no air travel in the USA will be catastrophic to the economy.

Yeah...go for it trump...give away the senate in 2020 like you did the house in 2018.

You guys crack me up...

I heard all of these scary threats before the recent shutdown. Then the government was supposedly shut down for over a month. What I noticed during that time was that I was totally unaffected by this supposed shutdown. Furthermore, I didn't encounter anyone in my day to day life who was affected in the slightest. Had it not been for catching up on the news when I got off work every day I would not have even known there was a government shutdown. If all those people can be removed from government payrolls for a month and nobody notices, then perhaps they can be removed permanently.

I hope he does it again. I hope it lasts longer this time. I wish he hadn't caved. I think it should still be shut down.

I'm all for shrinking the government whether it be one month at a time or permanently.

And you likely weren't effected because folks worked for free. You honestly think that could have gone on much longer?

Unpaid military (Coast Guard) unpaid TSA agents and Air Traffic Controllers, etc. Eventually, it will effect you.

false. They worked without receiving their pay on time.

As 200 said, they worked without getting paid -on time- .. Did it suck? Absolutely... but they got every dime of back-pay due to them during the shutdown.

Well...yes...duh. But it only lasted one month. If it would have gone on for months like you guys seem to be clamoring for, they would not have continued to work. In fact, the reason this one ended was most likely due to the controllers at LaGuardia who started to not show up.

My guess, is that if trump tries another shut down in 3 weeks, they won't wait as long if at all to not show up.

I don't think I want the TSA privatized...after what we saw what happened with hacks like Blackwater and Erik Prince, but I'd be fine with the ATC's.

I hope the ones that decided to selfishly do a sickout didn't receive their full pay for the time they played hooky. Or were charged against a "sick" or personal day.

You really dont want to know what Blackwater did that the US couldn't officially do. They had a bad incident in Baghdad, but I'd be willing to be the full truth isnt as bad as what was public.

When Reagan fired the lot of them for violating their contracts and the law, they simply brought in retirees and military controllers to fill in for the louts.

Trump admin needs to be contacting Oceana, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Andrews Air Force Base, Langley Air Force Base, Fort Drum, Hanscom etc.

Give those willing and able a temp bump in pay or some additional time off, their choice. Have them ready to go on demand.

Fire the TSA's and ATC's that can't or won't provide a legit Dr's note or other acceptable reason.

Fine, then look at Haliburtion subsidiary KBR who electrocuted our troops with their shoddy work.

There is no reason that TSA can't be private contractors.

Well, there's lots of reasons...but that doesn't mean it can't work. I'd just be leery of giving it out to the lowest bidder or some crony of a politician who made a nice campaign donation.
