Conversion is no good, but PI. And PF after that. Ball inside the one.

I don't think that ball was catchable on the PI.

Hawaii beats SDSU in OT after SDSU tries for two to win it.
Hawaii finishes 8-5 after a bit of a mid season swoon.

Wow. I don't ever recall seeing a score like that. What a game.

Army beats Navy 17-10. Will play UH for a chance at an 11 win season.
I am not particularly hopeful for our matchup next season.

RE: Other games - Nov 24, 2018
Jeff Monken came from Georgia Southern (where he had been extremely successful) and took over the Army program 5 seasons ago. The three seasons before Monken took over, Army went something like 4-8, 2-10, 4-9. His first two seasons at Army were 4-8 and 2-10, including two losses to Rice.
The last 3 seasons the Black Knights have had 8, 10 and....this season a chance to win 11 games. Three Bowl games in a row. Ranked in the Top 25 for the first time in over 20 years. The model of what Rice wants to achieve as a top academic institution.
Monken didn't do it overnight. It took more than one season.
I just hope we are committed to giving Coach B the time it takes to duplicate this type of success..and the discipline to insist that it happens.

There is a West Point graduate who offices down the hall from me. We give each other light grief over the Army-Navy thing. When Moncken went to West Point, he was convinced it was futile, and I told him to wait and see. Some guys can just get it done. Moncken spent 5 years at Navy with Paul Johnson, so he had a pretty good idea what would work at a service academy.
I know many on here hate the flexbone triple option, but it works at a service academy because of the kinds of players they get. All three academies have had success with the flexbone. But in specific situations it can be the right answer. And for those who say you can't win 10, 11, or 12 games with it, Army won 10 last year and will go for number 11 this year versus the Coogs in their bowl. I'm not saying Rice should run the flexbone, so don't go berserk, WRC, but I am saying we would be quite happy with the results that Moncken has gotten with it at Army, or what Johnson and Niumatalolo have done with it at Annapolis.
