Yes it is. Says a lot about the quality of "community" here. Pittbucs was unhinged but he was right about the tricities being a bad sports town. Games don't get much bigger than this one and the community in large part has little interest.

How close is it? Remember that a lot of our fans wait until the last minute or walk up to buy tickets.

How many tickets must be sold before the game is considered a sell out?

I know several veterans that are going to show up for their free ticket and first game. Two of them are riding with us.

If my eyes ain’t lying, actual shows, people in seats, are off in college football. If the NCAA actually had a real 15,000 minimum average or whatever method, a big bunch of the FBS non-big boys would be kicked out of that division. Those mid-week MAC games, for example, have virtually nobody in actual attendance. ETSU is having more in attendance than some of these FBS pretenders.

RE: Official Game Thread: Samford
Yes, the game will be a sell out once the walk up crowd is taken into consideration. However, this shows that we absolutely do not need to expand the stadium or raise ticket prices in the foreseeable future.

We are playing for a conference championship and the weather will be nearly perfect for this time of year. The fact that it hasn't already sold out shows a lot about our football fan base. Even if attendance is down nationally, my points above about not expanding or raising ticket prices is true regardless of the reason. This game should have had no room left in the grass bank.

I would agree. This game will sell out, but it should’ve sold out last week. I wonder how much UT having a home game at the same time plays in to it. Even in a down year for UT, it still affects our attendance. UAB is making it work going head to head with Bama though.

RE: Official Game Thread: Samford
One thing people keep talking about is a shared conf championship with both FU and WC, and that the team will get a ring. That is very much true. They will all get a SoCon Championship because they can not drop out of a first place tie. But here's the kicker.... their job now is to not go out and start measuring for ring sizes - the goal now to to make sure WC and FU dont get one! Win this game and the rings are theirs alone. Kind of a nice payback for all those games you had to sit and listen to the other fan dont ya think! Play like champs, keep the rings all to yourselves. And, if the JC folks wanna stay home and cheer on the Vols, then the ones who did support the team can can hold their heads up high with the Bucs! Go Bucs04-cheers

Picking up the intentional grounding flag might have cost us a win there. Terrible decision by the referee from my seat.

RE: Official Game Thread: Samford
At this point a playoff spot would be entirely at-large if anything, and more then likely it would be a road game.

It would also depend now if any other bubble teams loose or not.
