I think if we beat Troy and win conference we could get sent to New Orleans. Other than that I'm expecting to head back to Alabama

Meh, the people picking us in Zona are putting us there because Arizona has the last SBC pick, and they project us finishing 5th in the league behind ULM and the 3 East schools.

The reality is something different because we all know SBC Bowls don't pick using that logic.

Nola and Zona Bowl work for me. I don’t want to be cold.

If the Cajuns get to six, they'll play somewhere. No way they get left out.

If they win the west, they will go to New Orleans. (Despite what I said a few weeks ago LOL)

They might be in New Orleans regardless.

When will the SBC start allowing the conference champ first choice like others do?

CUSA does that because they have some real far flung travel destinations that no one wants to play in. Imagine UAB winning CUSA than being forced to play in New Mexico or Hawaii while an MTSU or someone goes to NOLA.

In the SBC"s case, our bowls are all within a reasonable distance with the exception of Zona (Though Zona has a much better date) and our contract with these bowls guarantee that they get to choose and we have little say.

In other words, it's not happening.

Now, if ULM wins the West, I believe the bowl policy was updated to guarantee a bowl eligible CCG loser a bowl game, so a West champ ULM should be fine.

Where it gets tricky is if you lose these next couple games. In theory, the exact same can be said about AState or UL, but both of those still have essentially a gimme win left on their schedule.

What other conferences can't fill all their bowl tie-ins and is there a possibility that the SB teams could fill them?

Out of the SBC Bowl games, yes? Low hanging fruit unfortunately when it comes to bowl history and drawing a crowd.

Yes, the loser of the championship game is guaranteed a bowl spot.

This is the year of the 5-5 team. There's going to be several teams that get left out IMO.

The two bowls we need to focus on are Birmingham and Dallas. Dallas likely has 2 openings, and Birmingham is P5 vs G5 (AAC) and its P5 rep likely won't fill. Shreveport is going to be open again, but has backup deals with both the AAC and CUSA, and one of those is going to end up with more teams than spots.

We're at 64 bowl eligible teams for 78 slots with 2 weeks left. My guess is we're going to fill all 78 with room to spare meaning Some unfortunate G5 teams within the SBC, MAC, and CUSA are going to be left without a chair when the music stops.

If ULM wins the West they'll be 8-4. They'd be going to a bowl even if they lose the CCG game. Doesn't matter what the bowl policy update is. We have a good, if very brief, history of fan travel to a bowl game. We sent 24,000 to Shreveport (100 miles away) in 2012. ULL is 45 minutes from NOLA and all they've proven is that they have good fan travel to New Orleans and nowhere else.

That will raise a ruckus from Cajun fans. But it's true.
