Oklahoma 91, UTRGV 76.

Despite the loss there were some things to like. Our defense really got in their faces, ten steals and 15 OU turnovers. Midway through the first half OU started to look rattled and we got it to 26-24. Four players in double digits.

Only eight players with significant minutes, didn't get to see any of the freshmen. 5000+ turnout which has to be some kind of record.

This is going to be an interesting season for NMSU. Individually, the Aggies don't have stat stuffers like Lofton and Jones. But as a team, the Aggies come in waves with multiple players capable of putting the ball in the hole and pulling down rebounds. Once McCants returns, NMSU will be deep at every position.

McCants was on the court shooting 3’s during the pregame. He has a pretty good stroke with nice ball rotation.

CBU has a tough road schedule coming up with the next six games on the road, including a game at Nevada. Hopefully, they can find a couple of wins on the road. The good news from last night’s game was the attendance, which was 5,089.

I didn't like the defense at all. I'm starting to really dislike the constant full court pressure. Half of the time it ends up in an uncontested dunk. I wish we just played regular half court defense with the occasional pressure. It doesn't help that our 7 footer is a huge liability when he's on the court.

Despite getting beat by Notre Dame and not having any recruiting this year due to the late signing, for the first time it looks like they have a real coach. They were playing an offense and defenses that I could actually recognize and forced Notre Dame to play more deliberate. They will actually win 3 or 4 games in WAC play this year.

RE: WAC basketball week 1
Seattle U is 1-1 so far and has played 15 players in both games vs Stanford and Puget Sound. Looks like an extremely deep bench this year. Western Oregon transfer and walk on Terrell Brown is averaging 12ppg through the two games. Despite leading the NWAC in PPG last year, people on this board discredited that level of JUCO. JUCO transfer Hundal (who this board loved to rip because he played JUCO in CA) has been outstanding behind Seton Hall transfer Myles Carter who clearly is playing at a Big East level so far.

Dashawn McDowell and Delante Jones, the two big transfers, have struggled so far but lots of time to fix that. Kavas has been his normal self and after a slow start vs Stanford finished with a nice game.

Three star freshman Trey Hopkins and Rip Economou both are playing off the bench as well. Only Jacob Eyman is redshirting.

It's early, but a lot to like so far for SU. Some extremely suprising play from players we didn't expect to factor in so far, and add in Delante Jones and McDowell getting to their potential, this SU team looks like it will be even better than we expected. Having a 15-man rotation (will likely be around 12-13 with notable minutes) will help a lot down the stretch

GCU destroyed Delaware State last night 89-47. They are the second WAC team to garner a D1 win this season.

Today UM Kansas City plays at UCONN. Seattle U. hosts Bryant. And, Utah Valley visits St. Mary's.

What did you think about Tyson Smith? Seemed promising to me.

He reminds me of Raymond Felton in the nba. He can shoot and has a decent drive to the basket and that's about it. Probably a good thing he's a backup to Levi.
Levi and Bowie looked to have cemented themselves as the "future" of the program. I would really like to see Gaines and Dibiamaka. They haven't gotten any playing time yet. Oh and A LOT less of Crnogorac.

How good is New Mexico State?

Well..... USCB beat Wyoming on the road 76-66. North Dakota State beat USCB 82-63. New Mexico State beat North Dakota State 73-56. NMSU actually led by 25 with 6 minutes left before putting in the bench.

NMSU looking good so far.

NMSU plays Saint Mary's on Wednesday at home.

Walk on Terrell Brown once again goes off, this time for 15. That puts him at 13ppg this year. This is a walk on local prospect were talking about. Hayford's plan for multiple walk ons is paying off already. 13ppg and no scholarship taken up? What a steal.

Myles Carter had his second double-double of the year. The Seton Hall transfer is looking more and more talented and like the best transfer Hayford has landed so far

Delante Jones struggled again though, the former Patriot League FOY is having a rough start to to the year.

Seattle U destroys Bryant in Kent, WA and improves to 2-1. Who would have thought one of the biggest pieces of this team would be a walk on D2 transfer. Hayford is a genius
