RE: AAC "Announced" Attendance Average Rankings after Week 9
Houston fans, question... what’s going on there with attendance? Not taking shots... genuinely curious. You’ll all have a loaded team, Heisman candidate, you are having a great year, and your offense is exciting and fun as hell to watch.
That’s usually a recipe for a packed house... so is there something deeper going on there?

Remember, this is just "announced" attendance...as last year, less than half of ECU's "announced distributed tickets" were used per the Wall Street Journal report.
https://graphics.wsj.com/table/Ncaaattendance_082718
(Above report showed that ECU averaged 17,876 fans per game last season...from their "announced" average of 36,727).
Last week's UCF game was probably the smallest ever crowd for a UCF game in Greenville...dating way back to our CUSA days.
ECU has 2 home games left:
This week vs Memphis and then vs UCONN on Nov 17th.

We are in a crowded sports landscape (pro and college) and Houston has the most effing fair weather fans of all time!
It was a beautiful day against a top 25 team on national TV and the fans crapped the bed. I have given up trying to understand it.

Its so hard to sell 10,000-15,000 plus single game tix to just one game (unless its a HUGE rival/in-state opponent or historical school maybe making their only ever visit).
Most of UCF's bump this year is do to selling 10,000 new season tix this year...leaving a lot less single game tix to sell for each game.
If UH finishes ranked this season...they will probably see a nice boost in season tix sales next year..which helps "announced" attendance for EVERY home game...which also helps push single game tix sales as some folks don't want to get left out.

Oh no doubt there won't be 20k of butts in the seats for the next 2 home games. It's reached levels I never thought I would see. Thanks Compher!!!

Yeah I was wondering whether it was announced attendance since it says so in the thread title.

How many were announced for the UC at SMU game. I was there and it might have been 5,000 - including staff and players. Beautiful day, but pretty hot for a late October game (guess that was why no one was there?)

Houston fans are fair weathered and it bleeds to all the sports in the city. this is to include the professional sports. I have seen it done to the Astros, Rockets, and Oilers/Texans. its a huge city with many things that vie for the attraction of its residents.
it is what it is but they love a winner. so all the coogs can do is win and continue to win and the fans will come. when that happens they can fill up a whole stadium (Game of the Century, or vs Oklahoma).

I think two mostly let down years hurt us. But at the the start of 2016 we were doing awesome coming off the peach bowl win.

Pony was having a shindig at his posh pad in Bee Cave. Half the population of Dallas was there. He’s kind of a big deal.

I was there and I’m all that matters. The stadium can be empty as long as I’m there.

Pony's parties are so immense, the Cowboys pay him annually to NOT have his parties on the Sundays that Dallas is in town for home games. Its cheaper for Dallas to give him a huge paycheck than to suffer the consequences of a 3/4 empty stadium.

I watched a clip of the James Wiggins pick-6 yesterday and noted the crowd was cheering. Seems like Bearcat fan showed up pretty well Saturday.
