Elated that I was wrong. Without the change in QBs, I was pretty much on target.

Does Herinck start next week or does the Marchi experiment continue? From the post game interview with Sanders I couldn't tell.

His interview made me think it might happen... Just Sanders... No.

Also Fun fact, on ESPN's win probability at one point Furman was given a 99.1% chance at winning.

Sports Management major. If he hasn’t already been hired, somebody better sign this young man quick.

RE: Official Game Thread: Furman (W 29-27)
A few additional things:
1) Our defense also needs some credit for that comeback and seems to be getting overshadowed by the spark that Herink provided. The defense was part of that spark- they were as engaged in the game from the sideline as I've ever seen.
2) I totally agree that Herink should be the starter, but we do have to keep Marchi's head in the right space as well as the team's attitude toward him. Marchi is our likely quarterback next season.
3) There is absolutely no excuse for the UTC game to be anything less than a sellout. We should have a crowd similar to the opener against Limestone.

Question: I thought that a new rule allowed a team to take a fair catch on a kickoff inside the 25, and get the ball on the 25. What happened on that play to give Furman the ball on the 3 and set up the safety?

I’ll admit, we left with the delay, but it was also due to the total frustration we had and the lack of enthusiasm the team seemed to have. I watched the rest on espn3. What an emotional swing. Watching these kids get so fired up when Austin came in was incredible. He is the leader on this team and needs to continue as the starter. I agree with fan1, if Marchi starts, Sanders loses the team. The confidence and leadership he had were impressive. I felt like I was watching a pro take over from a high school kid. And this was just watching it on the iPad. I can’t imagine what the atmosphere was like at the stadium even with the few people left!

From what I saw and the replays, he didn’t signal for the fair catch

At that point our defense was fully wired and fired! There’s some good speed on the D side. They were flat moving to the ball on every play in the third and fourth qtrs. Didn’t give an inch.

Correct. He did not signal for one. Would hate to be that young man today.

RE: Official Game Thread: Furman (W 29-27)
The Furman player was attempting to do the smart thing but forgot the fair catch signal. It expedited the process but I think the Bucs were going to win no matter what. It was great to see the defense get some rest and not be put in difficult circumstances. This is a team with limitations but they have enough grit and talent to compete in the SoCon with Herink. Marchi simply has not shown the ability to give ETSU a fighting chance. Marchi had his chance, it didn't work.

Austin provided this spark, and kudos to the defense for stepping up. Look at the yardage given up after Herinks first TD drive to the end of the game!!!

One important substitution we made on defense was playing #9 for #1 in the cornerback position. #1 just was not having a good night (comeback next week and play awesome man) and #9 stepped up and kept the defender in-front of him and made effective tackles, so good job from #9.

Great points. It was especially gratifying to see Dylan Weigel (like Henrik, a player who has given his all for five years to rebuilding Bucs Football) make the tackle for the winning safety.

Just to be clear, taking a knee outside of the end zone is not a fair catch. Without the fair catch signal, taking a knee simply means the ball is dead at that spot.

Here is a fun image, I could not get the screenshot to where it said 99.1% chance for the win probability for Furman, but just know it did.

I am still getting over last night's game. Unbelievable. I have to admit that I had totally given up on the game and was disgusted after the last interception in the third quarter. What Austin did form then on was more than amazing. It showed what this team can really do, what we expected coming into this season. With Austin at QB I think we can compete in every SoCon the rest of the season. Thank you Austin, thank you offensive players, thank you defensive players, thank you coaches and thank you Florida! This week will now be enjoyable. Go Bucs!!!!!!

Tennessee should be limping back to Knoxville from Athens, GA as the Chattanooga — ETSU game kicks off. 10,000+ should be packed in for this one.

And I would like to thank our fellow fans for packing Greene Stadium last night. They came out in force even though that other game was changed to 7:00. Next week with Austin starting should be a SRO game. Thanks Bus fans!

Has Sanders said that Herink will be starting? His post game comments make me uneasy.

RE: Official Game Thread: Furman (W 29-27)
I too left at halftime. I would never do that, but I had the UT game being recorded and was just convinced it'd be worth watching. I just didn't want to be up til the wee hours watching it.

But after a little bit of the UT game, I went over to ESPN3 and caught the final minutes of the Bucs' game. I certainly wish I'd been there, but I was screaming all the same.

Herink should be the starting QB here on out. Period. Not even a thought there. Between him and our defensive front seven, we have a shot at every SoCon game, IMO. I went to the Furman game last year, and we've closed the gap between ourselves and the playoff-type teams in the conference.

I honestly hope he’s just being politically correct and fair to Marchi. If Herink doesn’t start on Saturday, there is something clearly wrong in Sanders head.

Saturday will be interesting, and given where both teams stand, could have season title and potential playoff implications.
