You're just mad you didn't get the opportunity. Think of how many 40's and Black&Milds you could have bought with $20. You'd be the most popular guy in the homeless shelter.

Because homeless shelters are full of people drinking 40s and smoking black and milds...

What an awful, misguided, bigoted thing to say.

Eh, we actually started it in this thread so it was fair game after that point. I prefer to refrain from the stereotypical fan base jokes* even if they are all in good fun so that when opponents make them about us, they are clearly the jerks.

TrueBlewDrew sure does like his GSU homeless\ghetto jokes, though, as evidenced by a truly awful few posts in a notorious thead a while back and a totally unhinged PM response he sent me when I called him on it (then he blocked me). Perhaps I'll share it again on the board if we get to 4-1 at our place. He truly hates us and it must affect his sleep and psychological wellbeing. Don't @ him on Twitter though, bro.

*Except for UGA fans. They deserve every vile thing ever said about them.

But incest jokes are aren’t any of those?

Not really advocating incest jokes here, but definitely feel like there is a difference. I looked over the original response, which opened the door for TBD. So I guess that means its cool, right?

Let's be clear...not the same thing as calling Eagle Creek a drainage ditch or making goat references.

Or maybe better put, just like the Southern offense in recent years, sometimes the execution of idea can be more tactful than other times.

Since our football program was founded, the ugliness has flowed one way far more than the other when it comes to GS-GSU smack. Karma has been a B so far for the offending side, though. In all sports and aspects. It's been very satisfying to watch that play out.

Ehhhh your folks have given as good as they got.

The best anyone should argue for is that it was mutual. You can't claim victim on this one.

I've seen enough from panama, saint, and hammer to last a lifetime, not to mention the constant drivel from Ben who never ventures into a venue he doesn't have control over to engage with other fanbases.

So lots of message board smack, much of which is founded, makes the below ok:

Quote:Because homeless shelters are full of people drinking 40s and smoking black and milds...

It will be an interesting day in December and one that I hope y'all just go ahead and buy your tickets for.

I love how posts are attributed to me that I never wrote. JCGSU posted a thread from 2010 (sad in itself) from GSUFANS as an example and was 30 pages of people from GS arguing with Saint. I may have made f@ of the drainage ditch and you may hate my opinion but incest jokes and racial jokes aren't my thing.

Explain it to me then.

I was told I’m a negative stereotype of small towns. I responded with a negative stereotype of the city.

State-splain to me how that makes me a “bigot”

The point I was making is there are no victims in this fued. Everyone has participated at some point so either side waving that flag now carries no weight. Whoever tries will get ridiculed for it as well.

Have people taken the jokes too far? Yes. I'm not trying to defend them at all. I'm talking about the origins. And yes you were very active in it at the beginning. Don't try to rewrite history. Hell you can barely carry on a decent conversation with any of our fans when we bring up legitimate points without resulting to memes, simple retorts like LOL, or other similar responses.

I really wish we could get to the point where we could all talk to each other like we do with App fans (actually have good discourse about sports and light hearted smack back and forth) but I don't see that happening any time soon unfortunately.

Please tell me you're not serious that you think it is one sided. It's a rivalry, it's what people do. That's the point of a rivalry, you bust the balls of the other team at any opportunity you get.

That is what I want too. I dont want to see anything beyond casual smash talk about sports. But mutual respect will never happen as long as your guys dont stop attacking our alma mater and our city (the hate against ITP is especially strong.) Southern fans really believe that Georgia State is a school of crack addicts and the homeless in a middle of some apocalyptic warzone. How do you carry on rational conversations with Southern fans who truly believe that? This goes way beyond lighthearted joshing and sports talk. I think there are ppl who take utter pleasure whenever seeing something bad happening to Georgia State. This isnt a rivalry. I only see hate.

Let's be clear...not the same thing as calling Eagle Creek a drainage ditch or making goat references.

I love how posts are attributed to me that I never wrote. JCGSU posted a thread from 2010 (sad in itself) from GSUFANS as an example and was 30 pages of people from GS arguing with Saint. I may have made f@ of the drainage ditch and you may hate my opinion but incest jokes and racial jokes aren't my thing.

yep...innocuous memes/gifs and racial comments are about the same.

You could have ended with "Have people taken the jokes too far? Yes. I'm not trying to defend them at all."

As for the origins, it starts with Talon. That is where it all started. Period. The End.

But back onto the topic of this thread, we can summarize it in saying someone at GSU Ticket Office was not as thoughtful as they should have been. Some GS fan or fans thought they would be clever. And someone in GSU Athletics said, no, not happening, not today, not with THAT school down South as our AD refers to you. esAnd its such a non story that even the local media could care less. On to week 4...or 3...or whatever...lol

I hate Louisiana baseball. You know those cowards ducked out of their last game in conway against us 2 years ago?

Oh stop it. Cobb is doing a good job. We are raising more money than ever.

Will this show up next year? As of now 74%+ of your budget is allocated. IIRC the state says you have to get down to 65%. From what was reported GaSt only got $879K in donations? Which was down from the previous year and way down from the highest year of $1.5M in 2015.

I know from ArkSt these numbers can be tricky though.

You guys make such a big deal about 65%. No one in the administration is concerned. Cobb said confidently that it isnt a problem. We will be ready for the rule without sacrificing the budget. I haven't seen any red flags, but let me know if you know something that I dont.

Every school does accounting little differently. Some schools allow their athletics to operate as an independent entity. We do not. All received funds are managed by the university's general fund. Then the school pays for whatever the athletics needs for that year. Only the private donations that are specifically allocated to the athletics are counted as such.

Last time I looked at Georgia State's finances, our budget is pretty balanced at $1.2 bil.

The schools budget has nothing to do with the athletic budget especially now and how schools handle funds is regulated at the state level dictated by the BOR last I checked. I seriously doubt someone making a specific donation to the athletics department or football team has their donation thrown into a big pot that might be used for the biology department. Also given the fact that most athletic departments at best lose money based on revenue I am not buying it. I dont make a big deal about the 65% other than you are currently not close. Your reported SPECIFIC athletic donations are not near what you said and is trending down since 2015. I allowed for weird accounting to account for some of that but the lion share of your budget comes from student fees not donations or ticket sale and it is not even close, your allocated ratio is one of the worst in all of the NCAA third worst in the Belt overall and second worst among the football members. IF your projections have you improving it and increasing revenue at the same time great but I am talking about what is reality today.
