Potential ACC Openings After The Season
My guesses in order of probability

1. Louisville
2. Georgia Tech
3. UNC
4. FSU (not gonna happen but fun to discuss)

RE: Potential ACC Openings After The Season
I don't think Petrino will be fired UNLESS Purdue fires Jeff Brohm (in which case he's GONE).

Larry Fedora should've been replaced already.

Ga Tech has a big decision to make.

And Taggart probably has to miss a bowl (i.e. do worse than last year) to be fired that soon.

As a Duke fan, I’m hoping for no coaching change at UNC or Ga Tech.

I think Taggart will get more than 1 year. Jimbo did a number on their recruiting. That Oline... man. It has been an issue for FSU for the past couple of years.

Petrino is gone because Jurich is gone. Petrino isn't winning anymore so keeping him is unnecessary.

Well, they need to time it up so that Brohm can be the next UL coach - because I'm 90% sure that's who they want.

Larry has lost the fan base, recruiting is not going well, the only problem is a BIG buyout. AD Bubba Cunningham should be shown the door too.

Brohm isn't doing so well at Purdue. Frankly, I think they need to get away from anything related to Petrino. I'd give Norvell at Memphis a call.

Norvell and Seth Littrell of North Texas would be my first two choices.

When Littrell left Fedora's staff at Carolina, The Tar Heels haven't been the same.

I'm not sure I understand why you think Purdue firing Jeff Brohm would have any effect on Louisville's decisions with Petrino, other than to possibly remove him from the list of possible replacements.

Do you think we would be unable to get him to leave Purdue on his own?

If I were A.D. I'd already be calling Troy to talk to Neal Brown.

TRUE. I was more so looking at it as your hand might be rushed to sign him before he got another coaching job (looking less likely, though). I still think Brohm would do well at UL, but perhaps there are better candidates...?

Should have gone after Charlie Strong instead of Taggart.

Petrino is going nowhere. Compared to the train wreck that is UNC football with Fedora and the snow job Taggart put on the FSU folks to get that job, Petrino is COTY material...lol

Plainly overall The ACC sucks this year. It’s a conference race to see who sucks the least.

What’s your logic for that? If Louisville sucks, the whole conference must suck? We have objective proof that the B1G sucks but not the ACC. There are some struggling teams in the ACC but as a whole the ACC is doing reasonably well.

I think JRSEC hit the nail on the head last week when he pointed out that just because the traditional ACC powers like FSU and GT are down, that doesn't mean the league is weak if teams like BC, Syracuse and Duke step up to take their place. All 3 of those teams are 3-0, and Duke has 2 decent P5 OOC road wins.

The new AD didn't hire Petrino. It's quite possible they may want to go in a new direction soon. L'Ville is 10-9 in their last 19 games and is struggling against lesser competition.

Check out this weeks AP Poll. Clemson has already lost ground. The ACC has a bunch of average teams this season, no great teams. Has nothing to do with Louisville. We’ve been on a downward trend for a while now.

If Louisville fires Petrino we would owe him 5 million. The new AD is Vince Tyra. He didn’t exactly walk in off the street. He was on the Louisville BOT. He was involved in making decisions concerning Louisville athletics before he took the job. Can’t see him cutting Petrino loose.

Paul Johnson was extended and now has a $15m buyout. It will take a Gregory level cratering to fire him. But so far Paul seems up to the task.
