Here we go again!!!!
Im sitting the the path of another Hurricane. The current path puts the eye less than 20 miles from me on the backside of the storm. This one looks very much like Hazel that devastated a huge portion of North Carolina not only on the coast but way inland. Say a prayer that somehow this monster steers North and skirts the coast. Any impact from a cat 4 is going to be devastating. Ive got the generators ready and have enough fuel for about 10 days. Moving one set of elderly parents out of harms way tomorrow and we are going to hunker down with the other set and ride it out. Im VERY wary of this storm even being 40 miles inland. Flooding could be catastrophic in our area that is just now recovering from Matthew.

My daughter and her husband just moved to NC. They are 140 miles inland and I am very concerned about them. I am watching the path closely. My thoughts and prayers will be with my daughter's family and all of you in NC. and along the East coast. This looks to be a very big and bad storm.

Stay safe. I grew up in S. Central Louisiana and know all about the dangers of these storms. If you're in an area of potential flooding, get out well ahead. Don't forget the pets.

Anywhere in the Raleigh area eastward is going to see a foot and half of rain. Flooding is going to be rampant. Then ALL that water is going to come back down to my area via the rivers. Im really worried about this. It could be the worst storm NC has ever seen. If it takes the Hazel path?...Wrightsville Beach and northward is GONE.

RE: Here we go again!!!!
Good luck to all in harms way. Certainly the winds and storm surge will be a major issue along the coast, but I'm even more concerned about the folks well inland if they're not really paying too much attention to it and then it stalls over inland North Carolina. 10-15 inches of rain is a lot but that's sort of where we started with Harvey and before long it was 20-30, and then ended up being 40-50 for large parts of Houston. That's a real issue when people are evacuating from the coast and heading to Charlotte or Raleigh-Durham for safety, but then they're flooded in that location and perhaps without power to boot.

It seems like it's been wet there to begin with so even 10-15 inches can be catastrophic for some I guess.

She is east of Raleigh. I am trying to talk her into getting out of town and go somewhere, but so far no luck.

You know, people can make fun of WV all they want, but we are about 90% natural disaster proof. Flash floods are the only thing that gets us.

You guys don't take any chances. Head upland for a day or two to be sure. Family is more important. I'm sure after the storm there won't be any passable streets so you don't have to worry about missing work.

God bless you guys and I'll keep you in my prayers.

As long as she is on high ground she should be fine. Winds should not be too bad by the time it hits the Triangle.

Im 40 miles inland...I can tell you everyone is taking this seriously. Luckily for us it has been bone dry here for over a month. The swamps are dry, rivers are low and there is room for runoff this time..unlike Matthew and Floyd. Hopefully it will be more of wind issue this time for us instead of flooding. My worry is really what will happen to the water dumped above us. It will be heading our way the following week. Im afraid that is where the problems for our area will occur in regard to flooding.

I keep thinking of Florence and the Machine myself. Obviously I could have gone with The Dog Days Are Over but that would have been too easy. This song (What The Water Gave Me) is pretty cool too but it's more about suicide than storms (it's in reference to the writer Virginia Woolf killing herself by walking into the water with pebbles in her pocket and drowning).

Don't take the flood risk lightly, especially with the talk about it being like Harvey and sitting on you guys for 3-4 days. 60+ inches of rain if that's the case.

I'm on the coast. Rainfall flooding isn't an issue, just storm surge. Just makes leaving more complicated cause you're pretty much guaranteed not to get back for a couple weeks due to inland flooding

My west Virginia family has been posting videos of flooding almost every week up there this year. I'll take the once in a decade storm over yearly floods.
