The line between FBS bottom feeders and the top FCS is blurry .
Nothing new here taking the most important factor geographic consideration out. List schools who have superior facilities along with other factors.

I live close to CCU attend some games no ties . They have come light years and are super aggressive. They also have a natty in a major sport. Besides their baseball stadium they are bottom ten facility wise which is fine.
A couple off the top of my head.
Montana
NDSU
Portland St
JMU
SDSU
Weber St
Jacksonville St

A bunch of other schools are one expansion or piece of the puzzle away.

Portland State football is playing most if not all their games at local high schools going forward now. But they have a beautiful basketball arena.

I listed a couple
Montana superior facilities to Coastal.
I like CCU so I listed them as bottom ten.
No shame in that they are the newest member and were part of USC not long ago.
Pretty much every G5 conference has a school that JMU and Montana have better facilities than. Listing them is probably not necessary and rude.

Don't be fooled by FCS meaning inferior facilities. Ivy, Big East, and Patriot have some fantastic facilities. Oldies but still goodies like the Yale Bowl. Penn's got Franklin Field and the Palestra. Princeton Stadium is quite striking. Goodman Stadium at Lehigh is picturesque.

Yeah, CAAF, MVFC, and Big Sky have theirs...some folks just don't want to drink the kool aid that FBS is totally where it's at.

Yale Bowl is mesmerizing. Too bad FBS games aren’t played there.

To be fair, Coastal opened a new arena a few years back. It's a bit small (3,500 capacity) but if the Myrtle Beach area continues to grow they might be able to find money for a larger arena in about 10-15 years.

Of course, the more interesting question would be FCS schools with D3 facilities (Charleston Southern comes to mind.)

Presbyterian is another.

Lamar have upgraded their facilities which are better than several FBS schools right now.

Even the Lone Star schools seem to be upgrading their facilities which would look better than some of the bottom rung FBS schools.

I think Stony Brook and Missouri State have been doing some upgrading of their facilities as well.

South Dakota and Richmond are doing some upgrades of their facilities.

It is the ones at the FCS levels who are spending their money on upgrading their facilities would be the ones up front. I still do not know why schools who spend the less are still in FBS like EMU and La.-Monroe.

Just because a FCS school has better facilities than the bottom few FBS schools is not an endorsement to move up. There will always, at every division, a wide variation of facilities, and of course some at the top, others at the bottom.

Let's be real now..... I've seen tarletons plans. They look nice but they still aren't nicer than any FBS stadium. Nicer than a lot of FCS stadiums though.

Are there any other Lone star schools upgrading like Tarleton?

I should have titled it FCS schools with bottom twenty FCS facilities.
Montana , JMU or NMSU would be picked ahead of any SBC . Along with several other G5 if in the right area. I included NMSU because they lack an FBS conference.
NDSU, UNI, UI would all be there if their domes get expanded to twenty thousand.
Considering they double as IPF s and all will have new or newly renovated arenas soon.

The easiest thing to do would be to make football a non NCAA sport and exempt it from title nine. Allow football only conferences. That would fix some realignment mistakes . Reorganize olympic sports into more sensible geographic conferences.

Georgia Southern has a nice football stadium their fans complain about their basketball arena.
CCU when finished 20600 and 3600 is about the lowest combined capacity.
For CCU for now they are sized right .

I know coastal is renovating and theirs should be very nice after it's all said and done. I'm sorry I don't share your opinion on GSs stadium, but tbh I'm mostly going off of Google images here. I'm sure some of these stadiums look nicer in person, but I doubt it.

I dont know much about FCS facitilites outside of the Texas schools and the big ones you mentioned, but why would you compare the bottom 20 FCS facilities? Just looking at pictures the UNI Dome doesn't seem very nice at all, same with Kibbie Dome but I already knew that and I seem to remember reading an idaho fan saying it would be extremely hard to expand, if true I imagine the other domes would be too.

I dont think JMUs stadium is nicer than ours, Troy's, App's, or GSU based on lopsidedness and exterior. Now I might could agree about Montanas since theirs looks better inside but theirs looks bad on the outside as well. Obviously I am biased though. Just like you.

I’ve seen NMSU’s on campus facilities and they’re NOT definitely bottom 10. Aggie Memorial Stadium is nice for G5 standards and the PanAm Center is in the upper to mid tiers of G5 arenas. Their baseball field is nice as well.

I guess I am biased .
My thinking is if seating is over 20k a dome should get bonus points.
Loudness of a dome NDSU is famous for it other domes same effect if full.
They double as the IPF .
Student attendance is a problem everywhere. Weather is often cited as a G5 attendance killer as well.
Fans are less likely to sit in the cold or rain going forward.
So for weather challenged non P5 schools a 20k dome is equal or better than a mid twenties open air stadium.
No dome like that exist but expansion is possible.
