I really like Razor's posts. I don't often agree with him, but he is what makes message boards worth my time. I don't understand why people can't handle him having a different view.

Having a "different view" is why you think people can't tolerate him? IMO, it's his insistence on incessantly bashing everything about ODU that makes him intolerable for most people who actually like and root for ODU's success.

Seriously, how boring would this place be if everyone just stayed on topic and never posted anything controversial and there was no back and forth. In fact we already know, Monarch Nation died a pretty quick death once the mods decided that dissent was no longer acceptable.

Ya that would suck. Just appreciate it when we can disagree without transitive name calling and passive aggressively poking at someone's character. This is the internet and **** gets weird here but we can still maintain a certain level of civility.

I enjoy dissent. And I like Razor. He (or she) is very entertaining as long as you remember to not take it personally. I realize I probably have a higher tolerance on internet insults due to my online gaming history. But he (or she) is a big reason why people don't even bother opening up the recruiting threads anymore, and why the mods have to spend extra time splitting threads. And it happens repeatedly. I am sure Razor is an adult and understands exactly what he (or she) is doing, which is what bothers me.

But at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter how I feel or what I think. Everyone uses this place a bit differently. Who am I to judge someone who wants to come blow off steam? Being plugged into ODU 24/7, for better or for worse, is a benefit to me. It's not even remotely up for debate.

Ya. A irc channel, reddit thread, or steam game it's game on and it's a different culture and expectations. Here I kind of want things to stay a bit more cerebral than a fps game where you got kids screaming middle school insults as you get headshots. =]

I guess I have a different take on the recruiting threads. I like the discussion about recruiting in general as much as or more than the updates on who we are recruiting. Maybe I am jaded, but I really don't get too excited about recruiting classes until we see them on the court. It seems every year we have the greatest recruiting class ever, and every year it is not the greatest recruiting class ever, so at this point, it is interesting to learn about the kids coming into the program, but the excitement is reserved for the start of the season.

My biggest problem is that those with views that differ from mine are all ******* morons.

Its possible to have coherent, well researched, good supported opinions that no one agrees with.

or you can go the childish, name calling, non supported posts that very few take serious.
