But Penny and staff are smart. Can also be sending a 'we're a no BS staff' message at the same time. He knows the family better than anyone, and he knows what not offering Chandler meant.

Read the 6th and 8th line of the text. The point is Wolken is actively offering to "help" Curry with Curry's PR problem - hardly the job of an objective and independent journalist.

And you know it is not the first time. Without open records laws that (ironically) promote transparency, we would have never known about the text exchange.

Of course, Wolken - blinded by hubris - does not see it as an issue. I do.
