Again, wtf are you talking about? ALL schools have a vetting process with every single employee. Brown has been available to any school that wanted him since 2011 and the only bites have been SMU and now Memphis. *Has it ever occurred to you that there is a reason for that? You obviously have a Penny problem.
Penny hiring who he wants has nothing to do with who wanted to hire Larry Brown four year ago.
It has to do with who Penny wants to hire now.
But you know this, just like the others who have a Penny problem.
ALL COACHES HIRE WHO THEY WANT ESPECIALLY THE ONES WHO ARE EXPECTED TO PRODUCE TOP 10 RESULTS.
There is no disputing this.

I am not surprised that you are making this statement. I and others have attempted to enlighten you, but nothing seems to make a dent. The fact that a genius like Larry Brown has had no interest from even mediocre basketball programs for the last 7 years speaks volumes about what the consensus is from anyone with any common sense. Larry Brown, one of the greats of all time had only had a sniff from one of the worst NCAA basketball programs in the country, one that hadn't been to the tournament in 18 years, and one that hadn't won an NCAA game in 25 years.
You obviously have a common sense and deductive reasoning problem. IF the school (not just Bowen) wants to hire Brown, great. IF the school (not just Bowen) doesn't want to hire Bowen, I completely understand their reasoning. You apparently don't.
Perhaps you need to invest in a slightly smaller version of one of these.

I don’t know where you got your info from but I couldn’t have seen Penny signed off on offering his mentor the consultant job. So this public offer was a pure in-around without Penny’s knowledge?
Yes without his knowledge. Hence why he was livid . Bowen refused a meeting with penny and brown 1 week after penny was hired.

Let me put it like this.
You don't tell a coach that you expect TOP 10 RESULTS out of who he can or can't hire.
If the NCAA clears a guy to coach then he is a hirable candidate.
Period.
No two ways about it.
So, either they don't expect TOP 10 RESULTS out of Penny and did this whole thing to spark interest in season tickets
OR
they are standing in the way of a coach that they expect to get TOP 10 RESULTS out of from hiring who he wants.
Would you do that to other TOP 10 RESULTS coaches?
The Coach K's, Bill Self's, Calipari's, and Ole Roy's of the world say different.
It's either one way or the other way.
Do you want TOP 10 RESULTS or do you want to sell some season tickets by lying to the most known figure to ever be associated with Tiger basketball or any Tiger sport of all time?
So is that a yes or no?

Could it be none of the boosters wanted to help fund the Assistant's pool if Larry Brown was liable to be getting any of it? Why should they, as loyal benefactors to the University, want to help finance the possible (or could it be ultimate) embarrassment that comes with him in the program?
I don't find any use in getting worked up over things I can't control. Carry on with your petulant rant.
The main thing in all this is that there are a lot of reasons to hire Brown and a lot of reasons not to. I understand both sides. The issue is that we have posters that seemingly don't and only see one side.
Mind boggling.
There’s concern but the main concern for me would be if he was being hired as Head Coach.....he’s not. Plus he would not be under a complete stranger or a guy he somewhat knows, it’s the man in Penny he respects and loves like a son according to people, I can’t see the man going over the head of Penny to cheat or do something against NCAA rules. All Bowen and Administration has to do was put up stipulations for Larry to sign to get on board as staff member. But to not even sit down with the man and talk about it is bush league if it’s true
When coaching searches are conducted and prospects are vetted it is amazing what information people can come up with. Maybe the admin felt that based on what they knew there was no reason to talk to Brown. How is it bush league to turn down an applicant who has cheated 3 times, including at his last job?
90% of the posters on this board wouldn't hire a prospect like Brown at their own business if they owned one.
When I look at what he actually did and know how the NCAA actually is, I would hire him. Yep.
Me too.

Back in 1978, he got popped for ineligible players at UCLA.
Ten years later, 1988, he got popped for giving Vincent Askew improper benefits in the form of a plane ride and some pocket money.
Meanwhile Dana Kirk ...
Highly sought after NBA coach, went from one team to the next.
Everybody wanted a piece of Larry Brown.
2013 or so a player's girlfriend does his homework.
Brown doesn't report it, I guess.
How many players have someone else do online course work?

I lived in Kansas for a few years and KU folks don’t give Brown the pass you seem to give him. From an article published in 1988 :
But not all the violations involved illegal payments to Askew because the committee said it "made additional findings of improper recruiting inducements, contacts and transportation related to the recruitment of this prospective transfer student-athlete, as well as one finding of improper entertainment for a different prospective student-athlete.”

Ok, so ...
IF Dana Kirk was alive and well and still spry and Penny wanted him to come in and mentor coach for a year or two would you have a problem with that supposing that Dana stayed in coaching over the years somewhat?

Highly sought after NBA coach, went from one team to the next.
Everybody wanted a piece of Larry Brown.
2013 or so a player's girlfriend does his homework.
Brown doesn't report it, I guess.
How many players have someone else do online course work?
LOL.
SMU gets slammed.
Meanwhile UNC does WAYYYYYYYYY worse and gets nothing.
Meanwhile Dana Kirk ...
And that’s your excuse for having Brown on the staff?
Ok, so ...
IF Dana Kirk was alive and well and still spry and Penny wanted him to come in and mentor coach for a year or two would you have a problem with that supposing that Dana stayed in coaching over the years somewhat?
What do you think? With the amount of baggage Kirk had, there's no way I would support him being around Penny's staff. Heck, he even served a 4 month prison sentence. However, it seems to me you would be cool with Kirk as well if he was alive and spry.
