Hugh Freeze. He coached girls basketball.
Andy Kennedy can coach.

You realize Jeff Lebo, in 19+ years of being a head coach, never ONCE made it to the NCAA tournament?

I'll throw my vote for Lar E. Brown.
How much does it cost to change your name these days?

As great as Brown is (and he IS great), we'll be okay as long as we hire another solid former HC to be the staff version on Cal's Robic..
Some names I like (most I like less than Brown, but still):
- The one I REALLY like - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Crews
- He learned from Knight / Majerus, and he has 28 years of HC experience.
- He took two teams with Majerus' players to the tourney, so he can coach.
- He flamed out with his own players, so he can't recruit.
- I see this as Penny / Miller / Madlock recruit, Penny tells Crews what to draw up, and Crews executes Penny's vision.
- He's 64 and likely not getting another HC shot, but he loves the game and knows hard nosed defense. I think he'd be a better pick in some ways than Brown.
Others who are worth a call.
- Successful at most stops, experienced.
- Won at Drexel for a while, downside is he is a former Cal guy, not sure I want Cal guys on staff in this recruiting cycle.
- Would he leave Northwestern?
- legacy, might be able to help some half court motions, would open DC recruiting
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thad_Matta
- Probably won't take it, waiting for a HC job he likes, basically turned down Georgia
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Brady_(basketball)
- knows the area won some games at Samford / LSU
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Kennedy_(basketball)
- LOL why not?
Would have loved to have called Rob Jeter... but he just went to Minny...
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Jeter assistant under Pearl...

Who do you think would be a good lead assistant / AHC?
Whoever Penny wants but that doesn’t seem to mean much to this administration. Bowend will be on my s*** list until he is gone. The most incompetent AD in the nation who can’t even find another job and yet, Rudd not only retains him, but obviously values his judgement about basketball over

Fuente was before Bowen's time. But yes he did hire two basketball coaches, one of them a colossal failure.

I'm sure anyone on your s*** list will lose sleep over that. Most incompetent AD in the nation? What a dumb f'ing comment, you must not have been around when RC was running things. It's obvious you have one hate filled agenda against Bowen and it shows in all your posts. Agenda. Shooter, I asked you a question in another post, why do you hate Tiger football? Seems you want to blame the football program for everything wrong with basketball. Still waiting!

I’m not comparing him to RC. But Bowen is still a lame duck. He should thank that search firm every morning for Mike Norvell otherwise his time here is a colossal failure

So the only thing he has done is hire coaches. The Athletic Department was a mess under RC but I suppose that was fixed magically.

It will be noice when we have an AD that doesn't have to be compared to RC. lol
That day will come, you know. No matter how much people want to keep Bowen.
Heck, he would have been gone a long time ago had he gotten his way.

Not sure if he wants to return to Memphis again to be an assistant now that he is a head coach.
Interesting fact: Damon is the 5th assistant under Josh Pastner to become a head coach.

Oh yeah things have been great in the athletic department lately. A real example of a tightly run ship.
We were set to lose almost $5M this year and if left up to Bowen Tubby would still be here.
I don’t measure him to RC. RC sucked too. I measure what he’s done and he’s absolutely DESTROYED the basketball program. Not killing the university’s cash cow is at least 50% of the job duties...
