That sounds like 100%. In reality, it's not 100%.

Okay - nothing is 100%. So let’s put it at 97%. His remarks in the article sure seem to indicate his bags are packed.

Surprised that he took an unofficial and not an official visit. In addition, the longer he waits to make a decision the less options he may have. Signing day is next week (I think).

I wish him the best, but I don’t know too many P5 coaches that will tolerate his “maybe I’ll play hard today” mentality

Well Jeff jones is still the coach so it's more than likely who will settle for coming to play for him at odu in his last season here as the coach.

Jones isn’t going anywhere. This year or next year. 25+ wins = contract extension at the midmajor level.

If that happens, then Wood is gambling his career on Jones' ability to pull off something miraculous. If we still have JJ in two years, but still have no NCAA bids, people will slow the yelling for JJ to go, and start yelling for Wood to leave too.

Next year is pivotal. If he doesn’t land the bigs we need in the coming weeks (or the incoming freshmen bigs can’t start), then next year will be his demise. Count on it. I expect him to come through but we’ll see.

The big donors will be calling the shots. Should ask the Mitchum family if they support Jones. If they do, expect him to stay - and vice versa. Big checks hold serve.

Where's that extension? This is the time of year those things usually get done?

I agree with you in principle, but no amount of money will protect him from an empty arena. If the stands are empty next year, he’s gone. Nobody can survive a Kamikaze dive in attendance.

I believe next years attendance will be a referendum on Jones and his “vision” for the program. In my opinion, more of the same = less of the fans will remain.

There is some logic to that. There is also the reseating Boogey Man after the 2019-20 season for Wood and ODAF to think about. If JJ is still here and we continue to be in a malaise, it is not doing to bode well from a donation goosing perspective. On the upside the people that do stick around should get better seats. That only comes into play if they get Foreman 2.0 online enough to require a football reseating. If they maintain football and basketball reseating in the same year any donation drop should be minimal.

At this point, it's all one package that results in another sad March in 2019.

I'd rather have a little bit worse seats to watch good teams than prime seats to view mediocrity.

Jones has been the coach for YEARS. This is his team. He put it together, and in some ways can't keep it together. It's NCAA next year of nothing. I don't care if he wins 28 games. NCAA, or goodbye!

Sad thing is that all too many fans (probably not the ones on this board) would call for Wood's head if beer prices in the Big Blue Room went up or they cut the amount of time that the room is available, but couldn't care less if the team ever wins a conference title.

I think what somebody posted above about Caver, in year 6, being JJ's first player to play 4 years says all you need to know about the health of the program. Good mid majors win with cohesiveness and experience, and they get that by playing together for a lot longer than the Power Conference teams.

Just for accuracy sake, we have gone through 2 years were its possible that a freshman would suit up as a freshman and play 4 years.

2013- Baker/Taylor did so
2014- Talley graduated (and suspended) and left.
2015- Caver (possible), Carver (possible)

The rest of the recruits in these years were JUCO or transfers were it would not be possible.

JJ did not recruit Baker or Taylor
Talley did not finish is eligibility at ODU

One player in two full recruiting classes that was a four year player is not good for a mid major no matter how you slice it.

If Talley was a graduate transfer at Iowa State that means he graduated.
