I think it is a lot more delicate than you are giving it credit for. There is a point of overplaying our hand as well. We have to consider what our actual leverage is...

What if the P5 just decided "screw it" and split off into their own division. What's our actual leverage against that?

To be a power conference you just need a NY6 tie in. If we can get that with the Peach Bowl that would be huge. No more fighting other conference champions for a spot we just automatically get it by winning the conference.

Yeah, but don't we want more? Don't we want a real playoff that includes all the FBS champions? I mean, I do.

The AAC Presidents need to meet to discuss whether or not Aresco is working in the best interest of the AAC. I think he has a backdoor agreement with ESPN for a job and is attempting to screw this conference over in the meantime. I wouldn't be surprised if he attempts to sell us a horrible TV deal to please his new bosses.

I agree, this is going one of two ways:

1) He's in talks with the Peach for a permanent spot. From the major bowl perspective, an 8 team playoff, means devaluing thier bowl. Getting a tie in to the Peach, would also mean an AD on the playoff committee.

2) He becomes a P5 commissioner or elite P5 AD

Good God. You people are obtuse. It is unreal. Aresco is part of the system. All of these people are. That is why is is so surprising to see what someone like Danny White is doing.

Did you see the second bullet or did you let your just as blinding bias override again?

I saw it. The fact that the first bullet is thrown out there as an option is insane. Do people not read what is being said? The 12 ranking, the disrespect, and the snub should be your indicators of where you are, and what the system is.

This and have the PAC get bounced early from from the tourney. Then you could make a direct comparison between two leagues.

Not sure if he was yelled at/threatened or paid off, but something has changed his tune.

Maybe we are close to seeing a better TV and this is part of towing the ESPN company line. Sometimes when you want in you can't be so anti.

ESPN is actually giving ucf more national championship cred vs Aresco. That is a problem. I think the power brokers are telling Aresco enough or we will completely break off. We pissed off the cartel.

G4 isn't interested in playing at the highest level - except maybe a handful of teams like Boise, SDSU, etc. The conferences overall are going with this because they were given just enough money to keep quiet. The Sun Belt commissioner just said as much - they're happy with their $15 million regardless if that kills access for good.

Remember it took them being on board to agree to this - while ensuring the Big East/AAC was demoted in the process. AAC never had a chance. You have the P5 wanting at minimum the status quo and you have the G4 happy with the extra few million thrown their way to keep quiet.

This leaves the American on an island by themselves with Aresco likely being threatened behind closed doors. Explains his sudden change in tune given he created the P6 narrative. Now that it's real, they're spooked. One can hope UCF's willingness to rock the boat a bit can go far and maybe create pressure from outside the football club.

Maybe he is cashing in and selling you out! Is one of the Power 5 Conferences looking for a new president. Case and point, remember how the SEC raided CUSA for Michael Slive.
