Did everyone miss this life changing new law in Oregon?
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_f...0780400322

Starting January 1st, Oregonians (in rural areas only - baby steps folks) can now pump their own gas. Of course, many people from Oregon are complaining about this radical new concept and some of the comments on sites like this are hilarious (folks have to be trolling the site - no way can some of the complaints be legit).

“I don’t even know HOW to pump gas and I am 62, native Oregonian…..I say NO THANKS! I don’t want to smell like gasoline!” (example of one comment)

I have no idea why they couldn't pump their own gas before this but apparently that's been the law in Oregon since 1951.

I worked where corporate policy was to never handle a gas pump before a meeting with clients.

Yeah, when my cousin moved from there to Atlanta, she told me she didn't know how to pump gas. I was like, what the hell. LOL

There is another thing Oregon and New Jersey share, and most likely at the root cause of the 'save gas pumper laws'.

The funny thing is that the repeal of the 'save the gas pumper' law is limited to only certain areas of Oregon.

Next time you are running late for your flight out of Portland you'll be forced to remember how stupid it is to legislate that a minimum-wage gas station attendant has to pump your gas into your rented Hyundai.

Funny thing in Jersey the 'job' is laughable.

Last year wife and I did a trip from DC (a brother-in-law's birthday) to Jersey (roommate from colllege), so we dropped the car off in Newark to fly back.

Pulled into a station to fillup and when I reached for the cap the dude freaked out. Started yelling at me.

So all this guy does is walkover and ask what I want, unscrews the cap, slides my credit card, and starts the machine pumping. Then he walks away to one of the other 12 slots he is apparently responsible for. When my car gets filled up, he is nowhere in sight.... He finally saunters back to me, puts the nozzle back into the machine, and screws my cap back on. Then he says "A tip is usual."

I mean, the dude did nothing but walk a circle around his designated machines. Never bothered to look if people were finished, and if yours wasnt when he came by, you had to wait for another 3-8 minutes for him to complete his circuit.

Fing incredible.

Have to love those blue state job programs.

Ranks up there with the time I was with a startup at a convention in Chicago. Even though we could (and had many times in about 20 mins) put up our display booths, we *had* to wait for the 'crew' (union of course) to assemble it for us. Then we had to wait for the (union) electrician to simply plug in our computers that ran our display. Literally, we *could not* plug in our computers without a union electrician doing it for us.

The 'assembly crew' took an hour to set up our booth (we do it in 20 mins) at a billed cost of 1500 clams. The electrician only charged us 120 clams to fing plug in our two computers and our LED projector.

As I said, blue state job programs.....

When I lived in Oregon, I'd drive into Vancouver, WA just to get gas. Cheaper and pumped it myself.

Can confirm ^^^^^

I used to work for a booth and display management company. One of our big clients was Klein Tools and it was inevitable that all the Klein tools in the display would go missing between union-only booth takedown and the return of the booths to our warehouse.

Sort of like the Angel's Share in bourbon, except it is outright theft by the union stooges.

I swear they fk'd with me (in my way) when I flew in the first time (by not telling me on the front end)......there was a reason they chose me to work with dems when we both of our mfg facilities were bought out.....they knew a displaced midwestern redneck would get a kick and half out of it....

I'll never forget that one...
