He's implying his strictness had something to do with this. It didn't.

Well, there was this.

The Trump administration announces sweeping changes to airline safety

So, Trump said he was stricter on commercial air, he indeed was stricter on commercial air, and commercial air had no fatalities and was the safest on record.

Damn him.

I guess when you compare that to Obama launching his website, or cash for clunkers, or anything else, I can see where that would cause butthurt for some.

Is Trump lying. I read the tweet. He has instituted additional safety precautions, that's a fact. Is he 100% responsible? Hell know, any person knows that but he helped. Not my fault he gets under you skin with every word he tweets. No yes man here, lol, I didn't even vote for the man. However, I don't let blind hatred and partisanship blind me either.

I think you meant to say passenger flights in the US. The UPS flight crash in 2013 was technically a commercial flight. Two pilots were killed. No other crew were on board.

There were no deaths in 2014.
No deaths in 2015.
No deaths in 2016 either.

How was 2017 any safer than those? How was it the best year ever?

What has HE instituted and how has that specifically prevented deaths on commercial flights in 2017 that also did not occur in 2014, 2015 or 2016?

I provided the link. I am pretty sure the man himself did not personally write the new regulations, etc. He has agencies that do that. However, this is all partisan nitpicking anyway. Yes, I realize he isn't 100% responsible. Anyone that sees those dates knows that. That really isn't the point though. Has he helped make airtravel safer, NOW, yes. Is he 100% responsible, no. This isn't rocket science. Remember, I don't like Trump, but stuff like this makes those of us that didn't vote for him actually defend him. Not all of us actually like doing that. 04-cheers

Democrats gonna celebrate the next plane crash to tell Trump off. Trump has dems hoping planes will crash out of spite. They wont admit it but they know it's true.

Trump mentally owns dems. He is the greatest troll in history.

Brings a tear to my eye, it's masterful work.

From your link, which was posted in June:
Quote:The DHS has not given a specific time frame for when these new measures will be implemented. However, the agency did indicate that some changes will take effect within a matter of weeks.

When were these changes actually implemented?

And it says the changes are the following:
Quote:The changes include enhanced overall passenger screening, heightened screening of personal electronic devices, more thorough screening at checkpoints, along with the increased use of security technology, canines, and preclearance locations.

Quote:In his speech, Secretary Kelly reaffirmed his belief that terrorist organizations are continuing their efforts to bring down an American airliner.

So, these changes appear to be aimed at terrorism, yes?

Don't most of you here seem to think the TSA is pretty much useless anyway?

So again, how is any of this preventing plane crashes or making commercial airline any safer...when there have been no passenger deaths in the USA since 2009 and no commercial airline related terrorism in the US, since when...2001?

The problem, is twitter. When he uses this as his main form of presidential communication, he's going to get criticized for nonsense like this. Especially since he claims he has such a great brain and uses the best words. So, whether intentional or not, his tweet implies that his policy is the reason for the safe year, when we all know this can in no way be proven.

No, that might make it AS safe. Not the "best and safest year on record."

And you're missing a key detail. This is the story:

Quote:There were no passenger jets crashes anywhere in the world, separate reports by Dutch consultancy To70 and The Aviation Safety Network found.

This was despite more flights being made than ever before.

But To70 warned that despite high safety levels on passenger planes, the "extraordinarily" low accident rate must be seen as "good fortune".
2017 safest year for air travel as fatalities fall

I'm sorry, but no, the trump administrations tweaks to screening are not responsible in any way shape or form to the good fortune in air travel in 2017 for the entire world!

Also, whats wrong with his tweet? Is he lying? 07-coffee3

There were no deaths in 2014.
No deaths in 2015.
No deaths in 2016 either.

How was 2017 any safer than those? How was it the best year ever?

oh I dont know... maybe, there werent any crashes? 07-coffee3

No, that might make it AS safe. Not the "best and safest year on record."

And you're missing a key detail. This is the story:

No, it's not. That's why it's dangerous for trump and his minions to label anything they don't like as such.

If you bothered to read the story you would clearly see this:
Quote:Cargo plane crash
A report by the Airline Safety Network said there were a total of ten fatal accidents, resulting in 79 deaths last year. That compared with 16 accidents and 303 lives lost in 2016.

The organisation based its figures on incidents involving civil aircraft certified to carry at least 14 people.

The most serious accident of 2017 came in January when a Turkish cargo plane crashed into a village in Kyrgyzstan killing all four crew and 35 people on the ground.

And the incident with the most on-board fatalities happened on New Years Eve, when a Nature Air single-propeller Cessna 208 Caravan plane crashed in western Costa Rica, killing 12 passengers and crew.

Neither report counted military or helicopter accidents, meaning the year's worst air disaster, the crash of a Burmese Y-8 military transporter plane, which crashed in June killing all 122 people on board did not appear in the statistics.

Incidents involving smaller planes also did not figure in the data.

trump's tweet however...is complete and total bull****...but you defend that to the hilt.

ok, so 2017 was not the safest year in aviation history? I am trying to comprehend whats bull**** about his tweet. Did he lie? Because everything I am seeing online, and in articles, 2017, in fact, was the safest in aviation history. Also, did you know, that safety isnt just rated on the number of deaths? Once you get past that tiny little detail, you will start to comprehend why this was the safest year. I mean, we all know you hate the man, but what was wrong on his tweet? 07-coffee3
