What the results of the bowl games suggest is that AAC has 2, maybe 3 strong teams, but the rest of the conference is piss poor. That does not make AAC P5. It lands it straight in the middle of G5.

There are other mitigating circumstances that would affect those numbers as well. I think the AAC has lost something like 7 coaches in just the last 2 years. That adversely affects the bowl performance numbers. The matchups largely dont favor the lower AAC bowl qualifiers. Like for instance--Houston finished 4th in the West last year lost its coach and drew the MW champ. lol...That had "this is going to end badly" written all over it.
Understand, I think the P6 campaign is great marketing idea. I also dont think it has any chance in hell of making the AAC a power conference. I see it as a strategic road map to conference improvement and a marketing ploy to bump up public perception (along with TV ratings) ahead of the next TV contract.

Who recognizes the "P6" thing outside the AAC? Nobody.
Who recognizes the "G5 and P5"? Everybody.

Watchout you're just asking for AAC trolls to give anecdotal evidence to the contrary, I believe it was McMurphy that tweeted something about UCF and P6 and "belonging", he also used "G5" in another tweet later that day, but don't tell them that...

RE: P6
dunno where else to ask this question, but does the Pick6 really think that ucf is going to beat auburn, FFS?
they're going to get stomped like a narc at a biker rally. I mean, there won't be anything left but pieces, and even the pieces will be tiny.
surely this is just more group hysteria. they've just been living in a delusion for so long, that fantasy is their new normal. they don't really believe that ****. could they?

Geez. last season they were 6-7, year before 0-12. Now they 'belong'. They'll sitting at home during bowl season in 2 years.

they're going to get exposed. then they will use a built-in excuse that's the reverse of their rationalization for SMU. after the beat down, they will insist that frost shouldn't have coached the bowl game because he was concentrating on recruiting at nebraska, and that the incoming guy should have handled their bowl prep and coached the game. if only coach NewGuy (forget his name) had coached, they will say, they would have won.
and they won't see the contradiction.
mark it down. it will happen.

I'm going to guess that has something to do with the poor 1-9 record.
not that i'm advocating the AAC as a P6. They aren't. But that stat is very misleading IMO.
Yes. and G4 are excited to play AAC, while AAC is usually not excited to play G4. In bowl games amongst equals, the motivated team usually wins.

Your cable provider writes the descriptions, not ESPN. I have a feeling you actually thought this was true, which is sad.

It's not sad if he thought this was true.. it would be reasonable.
I think we're defiantly a top 7 basketball conferences out of the 32.
Comparing a few powerful conferences by the number of ranked teams in them,
3 SEC
3 BIG EAST
2 American
2 BIG 10
2 PAC 12
We're P6 AND P7

My point still is ESPN does not think so.

RE: P6
Look... The AAC board has become mostly insane (and inane) over the past couple of years. Some will say that it's mostly "harmless trash talk" meant in jest and to rile people up. Some will say it's really a "sales" or promotional campaign designed to change a narrative. Some...ok, a whole lot...of people actually believe the nonsensical "P6" (and now "Power 7") schtick.
My mom always told me that you don't argue with drunk or crazy people. You just don't. You're not going to win the argument and all it does is piss everyone off. At the end of the day, the AAC will still not have a "Power" conference compensation or access, we will have a maximum of 4 NCAA bids, and will be on the outside-looking-in.
It is what it is.
I do apologize for folks coming over here and jamming your boards with it.

your sanity is quite appreciated. however, it's our board. we should be able to talk about whatever we want without deranged, drugged up, inbred people turning our forum into the same unreadable pig**** that they have created in their own forum.
