I saw that happen and was afraid he was going to flag Stapleton for a personal foul - unsportsmanlike penalty.

Yeah that was kind of weird....Stapleton just tossed/flipped it to him. It was not like he threw it hard or did it with any degree of attitude. Just seemed odd for the referee

True. Well designed play indeed. I still think WSU should have run a 12-yd hook pattern to get the 1st down (like they had done just a few plays before it with ease against man coverage), get a new set of downs, run clock, and force JMU to burn timeouts. I'm actually glad they scored the TD and gave us a chance with 3+ minutes left. You are correct though, it was a well-designed play. Tip of the cap to them.

its crazy, get a first down and they win the game. fortunately for us, they got a touchdown which resulted in them losing the game.

Ehh maybe. There would've been a little over three minutes left and we'd still have two timeouts. Assuming we didn't give up an additional first down, we'd either be down 1 or 4 (depending on if they made the field goal) with about two minutes left, or even more time if they attempt a pass that is incomplete.

Hope we don’t have the same officiating crew this week.
Anyone know how that is determined, or if it’s known yet?

That would be most unusual, to have the same crew as last week. We also had that crew last year at NDSU (well the head ref anyway)

While looking for officiating crew, found an interesting board the refs use.

Turns out we were the ones screwed on the blocked field goal, that *should* have been our ball:

Good friend has a brother in law that refs ACC games, he said immediately we should have been the ones with the untimed down. We should have had another shot at the field goal.

Interesting find here. While watching live I was screaming that it should have been called illegal batting as well. The recovering WBU player appeared to swipe the ball forward as Hunter Etheridge goes to the ground (from the holding). But, I believe this caused the recovering player to panic as it almost looked as if he were diving to recover the fumble

Someone already pointed that out, may have been you.

This was the most points allowed by our defense since the 2016 UR game. It had been over a year.

Anybody else agree with the illegal bat call? Just my two cents. Reminded me of the Troy Polamalu play which wasn’t called.

Yeah the failure to call the illegal batting in addition to the holding was one of many missed calls throughout that game. Definitely the worst crew we had seen this season and almost lost us the game. Our own mistakes contributed more so though.

I don’t disagree with that whatsoever, I was just curious as I’ve heard a lot of talk about the holding call but nothing ever mentioned about illegal batting. Thanks!

You'll need to scroll down to find it, but it is here... http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/sh...-2017.html

...#88 on the list under "Top 150 Original Cable Telecasts"

603K estimated viewers??? Not sure how to interpret the P2+ listing.

Yes that's what it appears the P2+ means. Interesting that on the next say the NDSU game had a million less viewers than last season. That's the difference an ESPN last year vs an ESPN2 game this year can make.

last year's Sam Houston game was 503k. So an increase of 100k from a year ago

Yes and it's the exact same week, channel and time slot too and this is with more americans cord cutting each year.

NDSU's saturday 12pm game was 849k on ESPN2. In case you all were wondering why the 12pm saturday time slot is really the prime spot, there's your proof. It typically draws better ratings.

Is the almost 250k difference just because it's NDSU? Eh, I doubt it.
